Thigpen, yes or no

NFL network has an article on thigpen with a few highlight reels that are worth your time to watch if you havent had the opportunity to watch him play.  IMO this guy would be a good pickup for the Jaguars.  He seems to have good presence in the pocket, and there isnt much to doubt in his accuracy.  There is no reason to think that he couldnt have a future with the Jaguars with some coaching.

Only for a 5th, nothing higher

or Brian Williams or Meier for him (Without draft picks)

Yes for a 5th or Later

I’d be fine packaging a 5th plus one player (though not Williams or Meier). Remember though, this guy can only run a spread offense. I find the spread in the NFL a little intriguing, but he also makes horrible, horrible decisions. Don’t expect him to “save” the season if Garrard goes down.

Remember, we are rebuilding folks. It would be great if the Jags went 9-7 or 10-6 and snuck into the playoffs, but let’s think past this season. Is Thigpen the long term solution for starting or backup quarterback? No, he would not be. Save the pick, keep your options open. As I discovered keeping your options open can lead to some amazing results.

Ignore the hype; look at the results.

I rather us go 6-10,7-9, or 8-8

for the higher draft picks otherwise we die a slower death

Yes

for a 5th rounder, but let’s hope there is someone who are right now in the jaguars roster, but for not long who might catch the Chiefs attention!

Isn’t all that accurate.

It's funny looking at your site and the Chiefs site on Thigpen

Hey guys,

Cards fan here and fan of Tyler Thigpen since his college days at Coastal Carolina near where I live. You guys should check out what Arrowhead Pride is saying the Chiefs would take for Thigpen-Some say no worse than a 3rd, some don’t want to trade him at all, You guys are saying no more than a 5th. LOL. Actually a lot of the Chiefs fans are coming to think a fourth rounder would be appropriate, and I think that’s what it will take to get him from KC.

Looking at the Jags QB situation, it doesn’t look like they have much talent in the backups, so Thigpen would be an upgrade there, am I right? don’t follow the Jags, so let me know if I’m wrong. Remember Thigpen was the 3rd string QB for the Chiefs last season before injuries forced him into duty. Don’t look at that first game he played in at Atlanta-look at the games later in the season where the Chiefs actually had the lead in the second half in many games only to have their horrid defense give it away in most cases. Tony Gonzales really came around on his opinion of Thigpen as the season progressed and wanted him to be the starter this year if he stayed in KC.

Thigpen does have his weaknesses, his accuracy being the scary one at times, but he’s a rare mobile QB in the NFL these days, took a lot of hits thanks to a horrible offensive line in KC and got up and kept on going. Given all the injuries to QB’s last season, Thigpen isn’t a bad insurance policy. So I hope the Jags or some other team that needs a #2 QB will trade for him.

a 4th is out of the question for us this year

We already don’t have a 2nd round pick also. I say we should get the best QB thats still left in the 3rd round.

According to Michael C. Wright

http://jacksonville.com/interact/blog/michael_c_wright/2009-08-29/random_long_winded_thoughts_on_the_jaguars

The team may eventually offer more than a fifth. I sure hope not. I like Thigpen and think he’d make a really good addition but I’m not ready to get bent over a barrel by Scott Pioli for a guy that was originally a seventh rough pick that did most of his work out of the shotgun.

QB's on the market after roster cuts

we can find a QB that has been cut for free we need to build through the draft do u guys know what a fifth rounder turns into quality depth and special teams starters so u cant just keep trading them away u have to stockpile them and Gene Smith knows that Tyler Thigpen is okay but they had to installa spread offense to make him look that way ucant just change ur whole offense to accomadate ur backup QB and thats what they did… think about it there is a reason that they arent keeping him right is brodie croyle really better than him if he is that i dont want Thigpen

well, cassel was hurt... so...

cassel was hurt and thigpen came in to replace him… KC may be thinking of not dangling thigpen out there anymore with this little incident…

How about this?

According to Jaguars beat writer Michael C. Wright, the Tyler Thigpen trade talks aren’t dead.
The Jags were shocked that the Chiefs wouldn’t take a fifth-rounder for Thigpen, so they called the Bucs to inquire about Luke McCown. But Wright says Jacksonville is still interested in Thigpen and may end up offering a higher draft pick before it’s over. Current Jags backup Todd Bouman can take this as a direct slap to the face

Hm, it seems this Thigpen thing is the real deal. But if a guy like McCown ended up for free for this season, I wouldn’t be disapointed either.

McCown for nothing (released) or Thigpen a possible starter for KC (4th round)

I think its obvious, McCown would win, after all we only need a QB for 1 year so we can draft one next draft.

I might be crazy...

AJ Feeley.

In Vic’s game blog he made a comment which stood out to me:

Vic Ketchman 5:51 PM
A.J. Feeley is a backup quarterback on the Eagles roster. He’s another likely cut that a team looking for a quarterback would have to consider signing.

Yeah

I’ve mentioned him before. He’s actually not so bad an option. If we get him, I’d consider ourselves lucky.
