Never Edit the Great Zoltan!

Sorry guys that this is WAY off topic, but there was a suggestion in another thread that Zoltans articles/posts should be edited by a more fluent speaker of english before he posts them on BCC.....this suggestion bothered me enough that I had to create a fan post to show Zoltan support from the BCC Brotherhood...

I VIOLENTLY DISAGREE with the suggestion of

editing Zoltans posts/articles. Zoltan provides an Intellectual and cultural perspective to this site that cannot be matched. In addition his English ability is exceptional for not living in the US…I have NO problem understanding the points he makes…ever.

Another way to look at this is…I remember when I was in grade school when the teacher had us write an essay on the telegraph..you know..the old Western Union way of sending messages with dots and dashes (morse code) to form words of a message. One thing that I have run across time and again in reference to the telegraph was that each operator had a distinctive "key" or style or even "flair" in how they "keyed" the dots and dashes. Many operators on the "receiving" end of the telegraph could identify what operator was sending the message because of his "key style", no matter where in the world it was arriving from. Because of this, telegraph operators were a closely knit brotherhood.

 In World War II, Intelligence agencies were able to verify the authenticity of the report they were receiving from deep cover agents communicating via "wireless" because each agent had a distinctive "key style". That key style made them unique and recognizable, trusted and verified.

Zoltan’s english (or "key style") does the same for him on this site…to edit his english even in the slightest would absolutely destroy the exceptional flavor and flair that is the "essence" of Zoltan, and would be a disservice to him and this site.

Zoltan, you truly have no concept of what goes through each of our heads when we read what you write. You open up creative parts of our minds, because you are somewhere "foreign" to us, where lives, language,politics, food, women, sports,beer, culture, music are all on a very different level.

When we read your work, we in the back of our minds wonder about these things…we wonder what it would be like to go to Budapest to meet you, to see and experience the things that you do on a daily basis..things we cannot see or even imagine. We try to put pictures in our heads of what its like.

I personally imagine you poring over your articles in your native language and then painstakingly translating them to english,,,pouring your heart into every word…worrying..wondering if that word "is right"…and then I imagine you getting it done..satisfied with your effort. I imagine you sitting back in your chair…stress released from your face and having an ice cold "Budapesty" type of alcoholic beverage to celebrate your hard work. A smile on your face, feeling accomplished and proud.

Your writing and style as well as location creates these types of thoughts and images in ALL of us, though they Im sure differ amongst us in many ways.
