Ask Revenge of the Birds

Hey guys, Andrew from Revenge Of The Birds here. Now is that time to start asking about the team that will be traveling to Jacksonville this Sunday. Feel free to ask as much as you want. I'll check here periodically to answer any questions you have. Like John said at our site, we too, are coming off a close loss to a division rival, which pains me just to type. Anyway,  drop any questions you have, that way you're as up to date about the Cardinals as possible by this Sunday.

Following the loss to the 49ers, how much are you worried the Cardinals will have a Super Bowl hangover?

Also, what will it take to get Larry Fitzgerald?

Not worried.

Our defense looked great on Sunday, only problem was the offense wasn’t able to stay on the field long and it tired out the defense at times. On offense, the only person who looks hungover is Kurt Warner, but he’s been in this situation before, so I don’t think it has to do with a Super Bowl loss. Kurt’s recovering from a hip surgery in the off season and he clearly doesn’t look 100%.

The Cardinals will likely never give up Fitzgerald. I could imagine them trading Boldin or Breaston first.

what it would take to get Fitz

You said you had two rookie offensive tackles? That would be a good starting point and then maybe a first round pick.

lol i think we rather have a (hopefully future) good o-line than

a bad o line with no time to protect Garrard, who then can’t throw it to Fitz.

Well the pass rush looked pretty good against the 49ers

Watch for Calais Campbell, the guy’s 6’8" and has showed up great for us so far. Darnell Dockett is the leader of the D line, he’s always around the ball carrier and disrupts a lot of plays. He had 3 sacks in the Super Bowl. Other then that I’d say just about anybody could get a sack on our D. Our safety Adrian Wilson loves to blitz and get fined for leading with the helmet. ; )

Ok so on a scale from 1-10

The defensive line would be a 7
The offensive line would be a 3 at this point, but last year I’d give them a 7 so we don’t know which O line will show up on Sunday.

I don't think

you OL was that good last year. I think the line really benefited from Todd Haley and Warner/receivers. I couldn’t believe how many times Haley would call a screen on the side of blitz, or how many times Warner would throw a quick pass when pressure was in his face. I don’t think most people understand how much of an impact Haley had until last week. Lets put it this way, Warner was under pressure a lot against the Niners and they only had one sack in all of the preseason and that was in garbage time. And if you gave them a 7 last year, I’m assuming you didn’t really factor in the lack of a running game too much. It will still be a good match up considering our lack of Reggie Hayward. A huge huge huge loss, IMO.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 17, 2009 2:13 AM EDT up reply actions

Warner's performance last week

I think the loss of two and a half of his top five (counting Boldin as a half since he clearly wasn’t 100% and only took about half the snaps) receivers had more to do with his lack of success than the loss of Todd Haley. Having to start your fourth wideout and using your seventh WR in passing downs is a considerable downgrade in talent.

Who is the best Rb ya'll have?

Who is the leader on Offense and Defense?

What happened to Leinart?

Hows Warner?

How hot are the female fans traveling from Arizona? Will you be there for me to give you a high five?

More importantly, is the lack of a consistent running game a concern for the Arizona fan base?

by Kbot on Sep 15, 2009 4:48 PM EDT reply actions

Don't know and no to your first two questions

There is some concern, but this team is a passing team and it took us to the Super Bowl last year. Beanie looked really good last Sunday and I believe he should be the starter. If he is I’d imagine the running game would improve tremendously.

It's been a concern for a decade now

Their running game was dead last in the NFL last year and we still went to the Super Bowl. Everyone hope it improves but at this point the bigger concern is Warner and getting our WR’s healthy.

Where areas are the biggest concerns

of the Cardinals in your opinion? Also name please one player, that we keep on eye on (I mean not the big starts here)!

I mean

Which areas

Life without knowledge is death in disguise

by Zoltan from Budapest on Sep 15, 2009 5:23 PM EDT up reply actions

The areas for biggest concern?

I’d have to say the passing game right now. I know it sounds crazy but Warner and the reciever seem to be out of sync. We’ve also had injuries to Steve Breaston and Anquan Boldin, but both should start against you guys. The running game has always been a problem but I think the more Wells gets the ball, the better. Our offensive line looked like crap last week, so we are worried about them. We don’t want to give up the deep ball on defense, but that’s about it.

Keep an eye on Calais Campbell. We really like him at ROTB. He’s in his second year and he’s 6’8"!!! He has long arms and can get around tackles pretty quickly.

Thanks

Yeah I know who Cambell is. The DE we must draft last year, instead of trading hlf of the picks for moving up and draft Harvey….

Just our luck

it always seems teams are getting healthy just in time to play us. I remember last year Marvin Harrison was healthy for maybe 3 or 4 full games and 2 of them were against us. And Jeff Saturday had his first game against us last year…

i really wonder what would’ve happened had St. Louis played smart and taken Monroe

Adrian Wilson

I’ve heard he might have a fine levied on him by the league and a possible suspension as early as this week. What happened in the game vs. SF to cause Wilson to be put under the microscope? If he is suspended how big a loss would that be for the Cards D?

Jacksonville Jaguars. It's what I do.

by JvilleJag2 on Sep 15, 2009 9:46 PM EDT reply actions

He might be fined but the league did say that he won't be suspended

He basically leveled Vernon Davis as he was coming down with a catch and it was very close to shot in the head to a defenseless receiver. Here’s a pic of it……

Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

by Bezekira on Sep 16, 2009 9:52 AM EDT up reply actions

He won't be suspended, but likely fined.

Wilson is under the microscope because he usually levels somebody every year. He’s already been warned but it doesn’t seem like it will affect his play. Look at the guy, he’s a beast. He actually puts the term strong in safety, and if we lost him, the defense wouldnt be the same. He missed a game last year against the Jets and Favre tossed 6 TDs against us. We can’t afford to lose him.

He's basically

by Ewdtrey on Sep 17, 2009 2:28 AM EDT up reply actions

Eh maybe

I think players get hurt and that’s part of the game. Favre didn’t miss any games last year and I don’t expect Larry to miss much. He’s missed a few games here and there for his career and it could easily happen this year. But of course everybody will say it’s the curse.
