SI's take on the teams with losing records
There is a nice article just posted on si.com. Here's what they say about the Jags:
"The Jaguars knew the only chance they had to make any kind of big step forward was to follow the knee-pumping little steps of Maurice Jones-Drew. The Jags did that in a must-win victory over the Texans on Sunday, pouncing on an end zone fumble in the final moments.
And all of a sudden the Jaguars look a lot smarter and better than they did after season-opening losses to the Super Bowl-contending Colts and defending NFC champion Cardinals.
Besides Jones-Drew stepping into the featured-back role in a big way with a 61-yard touchdown blast in Houston, quarterback David Garrard is fitting into the game-management role nicely and has found a pair of reliable receivers in Mike Sims-Walker and free-agent acquisition Torry Holt.
After a few early burps, the defense also is finding a comfort zone in its switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense. They have found a gem at defensive tackle in third-round pick Terrance Knighton, who's a perfect complement to the veteran John Henderson.
The Jags may play in football's toughest division, but clearly are on the rise, while the Titans are winless and the 1-2 Texans have one of the league's worst defenses. Jacksonville still will be looking up at the Colts by season's end, but there is a definite opportunity to make a run."
Some nice compliments in there.

Very cool
I wouldn’t get too optimistic but I think thinking positively is perfectly fine.

Seriously ?
“The Jags may play in football’s toughest division”
If we’re the 2nd best team in our division, I’m not sure where we’d rank in these other divisions, but I dout it would be 2nd.

It was a must win game you got that right. But the way the colts are playing it looks like the division title might be out of sight this year.

The Colts
aren’t playing THAT good. If the Jags get some momentum behind them, and thigs start clicking, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them unseat the Colts in the division. But the Colts are surely not the big powerhouse they used to be.

Unfortunatley
Those types of guys only come around every once in a great great while. Matt Ryan is Peyton-esk, but he’s not a Peyton. Flacco is doing well, but has an incredible incredible OL, seriously one of the best I’ve ever seen, and he has a great run game. Palmer was really good, but he got happy feet. Brady was legendary, but he even got happy feet.
Until you can find a great QB, your are just trying to fake it till you can get one.

2nd year
Ryan is a better QB now than Peyton was his second year. Whether he reaches such a high peak, or plateau’s out remains to be seen, but I’m very impressed with him so far. I wasn’t a believer at the time, but Ryan is pretty amazing.

How do you figure
Ryan is better in his second year than Manning was?
Through first 3 games of their second year:
Ryan 5TD’s 648yds 2-1W/L
Peyton 8TD’s 911yds 2-1W/L

It's Funny How
A little earlier than this time last year it was said that Baltimore’s o-line was highly questionable when Jonathan Ogden retired. Now, like you said, they are probably the best in the league. More proof to me not to listen to the media on anything concerning football.
