I'm surprised a bit

about Ittersagen and Tim Shaw. Although Ittersagen ( I think )will end up at the P squad alongside with Vaughn, Desormeaux, and Bolen

Ittersagen lacks size, Tim Shaw just didn’t fit. We have 5 linebackers, having 6 would be pushing it.

I think Thomas Williams

will make it, and think about injuries… 5 is not enough!

Sure it is.

You have 3 starting linebackers and 2 that sit on the bench in case any of them that get hurt.

Got you

So what dictates the waiver order? These are things I should know…

by cliff1982 on Sep 5, 2009 9:19 PM EDT up reply actions

What makes a player eligible or not eligible for the practice squad?

Vic: If you are on a team’s 45-man active roster for nine games in any season, you are no longer eligible for the practice squad. A player may be on the practice squad for three seasons in his career, and three games on the practice squad in any season counts as one season on the practice squad

Such as?

Brohm hasn’t started a real NFL game and neither has Booty. You need someone that has started actual games in the NFL. Remember Bouman will likely be cut after this you need experience.

Brohm has upside, he was regarded as the best QB in the draft by many.

He was a second round pick. I’ll take him over washed up McCown anyday.

Your arguement

is it’s own counter argument. You only cut 2nd rounders after one year when they really suck. I mean Aaron Rodgers only back up now is a beat up 7th rounder Matt Flynn, who was originally was supposed to only be camp fodder.

On that note...

I think the teams like the Bucs, who has hired an unproven Head Coach, who seems to be keeping 4 quarterbacks, which is probaly detrimental to their special teams success. And to fire your OC so soon before the season is almost like cutting your wrists. I think the Bucs will struggle for consistently this year.

And i think you can add The Vikings...

I know that they have a great running game and defense that plays really tough, so with all this going for you why would you not address the QB situation except with Rosenfels and then to let Favre to hold your organization blowing in the wind , seems like guys who are making poor decisions are in charge in Minnesota. Should be a contender for the Super Bowl with AP, their offensive line and their overall defense, but I think Favre will rundown at the end.

by Jaggernaut on Sep 5, 2009 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions

I think Jeff Garcia...

if he is still able to scramble and move the pocket to make throws, would work out good witt our young and learning receivers except for Holt, the teacher. If Garcia has a proficient running game like I think the Jags will possess this year around the 3rd game of the season, he will be able to find multiple receivers and spread the balls around.

If the little birdies are to be believed

It’s for a conditional pick. Assuming he just rides the bench a 7th, if he has to start a few games, 5 or 6, if Garrard goes out for most of the season, it’ll be as high as a 3.

Browsing ESPN.com
Jaguars: Cutdown analysis

September 5, 2009 10:33 PM

Posted by ESPN.com’s Paul Kuharsky

Biggest surprise: The Jaguars continue to be willing to part ways with veterans who disappoint. While their depth is questionable at cornerback, they cut Brian Williams, who’s played corner, safety and nickel for them. Tyron Brackenridge, an offseason waiver claim from the Jets, joins Scott Starks and Brian Witherspoon as the depth with rookie Derek Cox likely to start opposite Rashean Mathis. Two undrafted players made it — defensive end Julius Williams and linebacker Russell Allen, while expensive veteran offensive lineman Tony Pashos did not.

No-brainers: Nate Hughes was productive all through camp and in his preseason action and on a team that drafted three receivers and brought in Torry Holt, he still had to make it. He stayed and could start, while the third of the drafted wideouts, Tiquan Underwood, was cut. Ernest Wilford, brought back recently when he was let go in Miami, made the team as a tight end ahead of Richard Angulo, who was seen by some as "just a guy."

What’s next: Backup quarterback was going to be one big concern, but the team dealt an undisclosed draft pick to Tampa Bay for Josh McCown. Todd Bouman will likely be gone once McCown passes his physical. With fullback Greg Jones likely to be the top alternative for carries to Maurice Jones-Drew and rookie Rashad Jennings the only other running back on the roster after Alvin Pearman and Chauncey Washington were cut, the team is thin at the spot. Expect a practice squader, or two, at least.

well i missed a lot

the Miss State game rained and rained and then they came out the tunnel. then a 30-minute lightning delay full of rain

then we won. offense started slow.

I got back and saw oklahoma lost. My comment is “would the steelers have won the super bowl in Roethlisber went out?” let me answer…no. This was a cheasy win but congratulations is in store, regardless.

I hope Alabama and LSU lose. I don’t care what it says about the SEC. If they lose, then State is one-up on both. HAHA

Pashos and williams gone…good.

McCown. I hope was not expensive but he is solid.

I’m glad some UDFA’s made the team. thats good for the future as far as recruiting them.

I would still like Brohm or Booty to be claimed and tested and then maybe PS or keep 3.

I hope Brolen is claimed and for now i am done rambling.
