An Average Joe's Starting Offensive Lineup: Week 1

The final 53, or should I say 52, is out. We have all expressed our opinions about who have stayed and should have gone, who should've left earlier and who was over payed. Here, I've written up a starting lineup the way I would have it if I were calling the shots for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Defensive lineup coming sometime this week.
I hope to stir up some conversation with this, here we go...
Quarterback: David Garrard. No controversy here, at least yet. Garrard has lost a lot of weight, seems confident, and has fully bought in to Dirk Koetter's offense. A much improved year is expected out of him by everyone, myself included. I personally think he is one of the upper tier quarterbacks in the league, and that he has always suffered from the always poor supporting cast around him. Now that he has a decent, generally young offensive line that is only going to get better and a group of receivers that look to cause some trouble this year, a Pro Bowl could be a possibility.
Running Back: Maurice Jones-Drew. He better be starting, or otherwise I may jump off the Dames Point Bridge out of the frustration of knowing Jones-Drew's lucrative contract is going to the bank without production in return. Drew still has a lot to prove to me this year, as everyone else and their grandmother have already named him the next Barry Sanders, not to mention savior of the world.
Fullback: Greg Jones. For some reason I have a feeling that the Jaguars' base offensive formation isn't going to be the offset strong I anymore, yet Greg remains the best fullback in the AFC, and probably in the NFL. Hopefully they can get him involved in the redzone.
Wide Receiver: A) Torry Holt. He's said himself he didn't just sign with Jacksonville to play tutor to the young guys. He still wants to play and feels like he has a lot left in the tank. He may not be the deep threat that he used to be, but he is still one of the best route runners in the NFL, and is fully capable of picking apart a zone defense in the intermediate range of the field.
B) Mike Walker. Sure, he's been injury prone in the past, but I think this is the year he losses his "INA" label and becomes a legit receiver. He reminds me a lot of a young Reggie Wayne; good route running, enough speed, and run after the catch ability that makes you glad he's yours. I'm glad Mike has worked his way back into the picture. I said he would come back when there was talk of letting him go, I'm glad I wasn't disappointed.
C) Troy Williamson. I call Troy as the slot receiver. I think he gets plenty of both playing time and looks, as I think three receiver sets are going to be the new norm. He is this teams deep threat, so hopefully he can get even more opportunities down the seams and sidelines when motion is taken advantage of.
Tight End: Marcedes Lewis. I saw Marcedes eating dinner the other night, and it was then that I fully realized how tall this cat is. He's listed at 6'6'', but in person he looks two inches taller. He says this is the season he becomes a true receiving threat, I lie in wait for him to show me. He is off course still a great blocker, which always keeps him on the field. Become a good receiver down the seam, and a Pro Bowl could be in the cards.
Offensive Tackle: LT) Eugene Monroe. It looks like the Jags want to let Eugene get his baptism by fire, and start him week one. Monroe is a great pass blocker, he just has to get used to the NFL talent level.
RT) Eben Britton. Tony Pashos was released, thus insuring Eben a starting role. Eben is good in all facets of his game, but like Monroe just needs to get used to the NFL. Even in his inexperience, he is nowhere near the liability in pass protection that Pashos was. Good riddance Tony.
Guard: RG) Uche Nwaneri. The line is young on the ends now, why not put some youth on the interior. Uche got some valuable experience filling in on a patchwork offensive line last season, and even though he went through some growing pains, it payed off for him big time in the long run. Uche is ready to go.
LG) Vince Manuwai. Vince seems to be almost 100 percent, so as long as he is ready to go, he should be back week 1. His pass blocking leaves a lot to be desired, but knowing you can run left anytime you need a good three yards is too good to replace.
Center: Brad Meester. Brad has his deal inked for the next few years, and will probably retire a Jaguar. He hasn't slowed down yet, and is still the undisputed leader on the offensive line.

Troy is listed as the starter
ahead of MSW..
But if the line doesn’t have too many problems, I would expect to see a lot of 3-WR sets

If I was going 3 wide
I would rather have MSW and Troy outside, partially because neither of those guys are really good at catching bullets over the middle in traffic. Let Holt, with his superior route running, play inside at the slot. He doesn’t have the deep speed preferred by outside receivers anyhow. And because Holt is older, I would have a heavy dose of Mike Thomas as a slot receiver.

I don't necassarially agree with Monroe starting week 1
I think he should start around Week 4,5 and kind of ease him in.

I don't like
Uche as the starter week one at RG. I prefer Mo Williams, as he’s easily the best interior pass blocker, other than Meester. And you know the Colts are all about pass rushing. Also, does anyone remember who was playing RG when the Jaguars were among the top in the league rushing the ball? That’s right: Mo Williams
The last reason you have Mo in instead of Uche, is because our tackles are going to have a hard enough time getting thrown into the starting lineup, they could benefit from a Vet next to them. Britton especially could benefit from someone that’s played RT. (Also Uche is even new to RG, being that he played at LG last year.)

Not completely
at least not yet. But he still looks better than anyone else RG at the moment. I was totally expecting Uche to take the job, but he hasn’t lived up to my expectations. I know it’s a mental thing, so it should only a be a matter of time. But as of right now, I’d go with Mo.

Word
I thought for awhile on that one. Mo can still play at a high level. If Uche can put it together though, watch out.
