Why we win
It's the week leading up to opening day and hope springs eternal across the league, nowhere more so than Jacksonville.
Sure, we have heartburn about blackouts and Peter King comments, and the unfortunate national image we have at the moment. But the truth is all will be well with this team. We've got the right leadership in place and we've turned a corner in the two areas that matter: character and talent. We're a season or two away from a full stadium and universal respect for the way we've pulled a 180. It's all going to happen, and it starts this Sunday when we beat Indy. Here are the reasons we win.
1. The element of surprise. The Colts have no idea what's coming at them. All they have to go on is the tape of the Redskins game and Dirk showed very little, just enough to confirm the health of some of our guys. We're going to throw the ball, and we're going to throw it to fast guys who won't immediately go down, and that's going to open up holes for Maurice. We score 31.
2. No Bob Sanders. I hate to give one guy this much credit, but Sanders is that kind of player, at least he has been against us. Especially in the run game. Quite honestly, I'm glad he's out.
3. Pressure on Peyton. To my untrained eye, he's lost a step. OK, half a step. And the highlight of our pre-season was the way we made opposing QBs uncomfortable, even if we didn't get a lot of sacks. I expect a lot from Harvey and Groves, and really like some of the blitz packages we showed in the first couple of games. Manning will do his thing, and I worry about the deep ball, but he'll see pressure from us that he's not used to.
4. Our linebackers. Assuming they are healthy, these guys are the key to our defense this year, and they have the experience now, the speed and the talent to be among the best groups in the league. With Big John and Titanic Terrance in the middle, our linebackers will control the run and blanket Dallas Clark.
5. Josh Scobee. He's had two game winners for us in Indy in the past 4 or 5 years, loves kicking indoors and was perfect in pre-season. I believe he'll be an all-pro kicker this year, and he'll take the first steps toward that this Sunday. If it comes down to the wire, you gotta love Scobee-doo.
So I have it about 31-27, and bring on Arizona. Can't wait!

We always play the colt tough
I am still worried about the danger of possibly having the two rookie tackles going against the beasts that Indy has, I look for our DEs to have a big game because it sounds like OT is a weak spot on Indy. I also am worried and hope Derek Cox can handle this, he only played in one preseason game and he is going against a potent passing offense. I dont want to say it but, Indy 24- Jac 17.

Thats a more realistic view
in the AFC South, Rivals play higher against each other or lower themselves to their opponents level. I think the Jags could win but not dominatingly. It’ll likely be near the other games we played against the Colts scores, with a game winning drive or FG.

It the corners of my memory,
I remember watching a Colts-Jags game at Alltel Stadium. Spicer or Stroud have peyton wrapped up and he was going down when he threw it while get tackled and falling to his back for a 20 yard catch. He’s a dangerous player when he can throw the ball.

Beleve it or not
I think the biggest lone player that can swing the way this game goes, could be Reggie Nelson. Peyton really really likes picking on Nelson. If Nelson can avoid biting on play action fakes, that will go a long way. If he doesn’t get caught reading Peyton’s lying eyes, that can help significantly. If he can cause a couple turn overs, that will be huge. Last, he needs to put some fear into receivers going over the middle. He’s gotta take care of them honey holes, that Peyton likes to exploit.

Nelson wouldn't be Nelson if he didn't get tricked by Peyton's shifty eyes.
