OK, we're gradually becoming Jaguars fans.

At a time when professional sports provide few examples of entities who merit sympathy and compassion, the fact that the Jacksonville Jaguars are remaining resolute in hard times makes us want to see them find a way to establish the kind of connection with the fan base that will result in a miraculous run on the remaining season tickets, and in turn the broadcast of the team's home games for the benefit of all local citizens.

On Tuesday, owner Wayne Weaver posted a letter in response to an item that appeared on the team's message board expressing support for the franchise at this difficult time in its 16-year history. It was the kind of personal touch that causes us to believe that Weaver is committed not just to keeping the team in Jacksonville, but to making it a success there.

And it makes us want to come up with a way to help the Jaguars sell those tickets. Maybe we can raise money to buy tickets that would be given to worthy charities in Jacksonville. Or maybe there's a better idea.

If you have one, post it here.

We're probably too busy and/or lazy to actually take up the challenge, but maybe we'll inspire someone else to do the heavy lifting.
