Next Freeney?

I know we've had some trouble with the tweeners, so to speak, at the DE position. However I think I've just found someone that could come out of nowhere in the near future. And like many of Gene Smith picks, he's out of a small school; Stillman. Yeah, the same school Brian Witherspoon came from. I imagine it wont be much longer before their football program will start getting some more national recognition.

Anyhow he's a smaller player at only 255lbs, but he's only about 6'2" which makes him about Dwight Freeney's size. And if I didn't know any better, from watching his highlights, I would think they were the same person. He might still be a better 34 OLB prospect, but I would really like to see him in teal regardless of scheme!

If people could actually see more HBCUs play.

They’d see that there are a ton of gems and quality players.

He looks pretty good

I’d like to see him up against some better O-Line talent. Is he in an all-star game, combine, etc., where we’d get to see him go up against someone who could actually play in the NFL?

I think

he will be at the Combine and the Senior bowl.
But one thing that is kind of helpful is knowing that he had really good production even when he was at Temple, who had a better competition. And from the tape you can obviously see that he has some good moves, vision, balance, agility, speed, quick first step even if it is against lesser competition. I do want to see more of him against the run and against stronger blockers. He doesn’t look incredibly strong, so he would need a little time to get stronger.

I doubt he'll go anywhere

near that low. Not at his weight and speed. Bryan Smith, the DE/OLB we had earlier this season that went on IR, was a similar prospect that garnered a 3rd round pick from the Eagles I believe. I think after the Senior bowl, if he plays well, he will be considered around the same position in the draft.
