Marty Schotenheimer come save our team!
I think Marty Schotenheimer is exactly what this town needs to save our franchise from leaving town. He is a winner. His curse won't follow him to Jacksonville. He will win playoff games here in Jacksonville. I know everyone is thinking of coaches like Cowher,Gruden and Shanahan but I think Schotenheimer would be an excellent choice. Right now this division is setting itself up to be up for grabs in the next couple of years because Peyton Manning is getting old and starting to look really tired out there and the Titans and Texans don't look to be getting any better. I think if we get the right coach in here now the Jags can dominate this division for a long time to come. Is it possible that we could get Schotenheimer to come coach our team? Does anyone else out there agree with me?

1st ask yourself...
of the coaches you mentioned, who would fit into Gene Smith’s system? I think all the names you have listed would not take a back seat to Gene. JDR is essentially a coach answering to Gene…
Honestly, I don't know how I would take constantly going 13-3 and then going one and done in the playoffs
Christian Ponder in 2011! Bring him home Wayne, he can actually play QB in the NFL

I would be okay with it
Its better than 9-7 and losing in the playoffs.

13-3 and losing in the playoffs
seems better to me than what we are doing now
i would love tony dungy
and maybe he’d come out of retirement since he’s pretty awkward as and analyst and just makes me nervous whenever he’s on tv!
I think Jack Del Rio would be an excellent choice as a head coach for the Jaguars.

Also, what this town needs to keep the team in Jacksonville if for the fans to put their butts in the seats. Nothing else will keep this team in Jacksonville.
Winning won’t. Schotenheimer won’t. New owners won’t. Blackout restrictions won’t.
Fans taking advantage of the great ticket prices and quality product (yes, the Jaguars are a good football team, and look to only get better in the next 2-3 years) on the field will keep the name “Jacksonville” in front of the mascot.

agreed. as i said on another post a few minutes ago, all WE can control is to buy tickets. period. who coaches or plays for the jaguars is not our choice. ever. so be concerned with what you CAN do instead of what you CAN’T. (not you justincred…)

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The main reason I am a Jag fan is because of Schotenheimer. I was a Chiefs fan till Jacksonville got the Jags. Any more of marty ball and I would have shot myself.
i also feel like we say these things every year
manning is getting older=he just keeps getting better, Titans seem to know how to win, especially with C.Johnson V.Young getting better, Texans always seem to just be a tease=8-8 but that offense is scary when Schaub stays healthy, just need the D to stay consistnat
Just think, the Jags passed on Chris Johnson
Jags also passed on Keith Bulluck in 2000.

To be fair, most of the NFL passes on most of these big players. Very few first round picks actually end up being stars. Most of the stars in today’s game were taken in the later rounds.
There are the obvious exceptions – Peyton Manning, Larry Fitzgerald, for example.

I just thought it was funny that we took R.J Soward over Keith
and Derrick over Johnson… that’s all.
It’s safe to say in recent years, we have had more misses then hits in the first round!

For sure. But again, most teams do.

NO... !
No way Marty would be a coach I want… maybe we should hire this coach from the Giants.. I heard once took an expansion team to the playoffs a few times and last I heard even won a Super Bowl ring.. Yes I said it.. I want Coughlin BACK..
Since that ain’t happenign for a while.. why not give Del Rio ONE more year.. The emphasis on ONE.. Gene did a great job last year, one more draft and off season like that and any GOOD Coach will be able to turn the team around. I have to say I like Jack.. BUT I also will admit the end of the season slumps we have and up and down again play of the team I lay on the Coaching staff as much as the players. So ONE more season.. if Jack can’t do it..
I think people
are expecting another draft like last year’s. Like this years team’s performance, I think our expectations should be relaxed a bit. First of all we have 3 fewer picks than we did last year. Second, we got pretty lucky when Monroe fell to us.
I just lost my college coach (Leavitt). I don’t think I could handle losing my NFL coach too.
