ProFootballFocus Update:
On the rookie of the year race:
4. Jaguars DT Tyson Alualu (+4.5, 288 snaps)
Couldn’t get to the quarterback in Week 5, but he was strong enough against the run to impress us. Complete defensive tackle who isn’t the finished product, but certainly isn’t looking like a reach. Last week: 6th
and in the 32 teams, 32 observations article:
Jacksonville: Terrence Knighton has missed more tackles (four) than made (three).

i dont know what the stats are on sacks for knighton
but PFF doesnt count half sacks
And all those who look down on me I'm tearing down your balcony
apparently
there’s not a stat for collapsing the pocket or driving guards back into runners

and allowing the other DT to do well enough to be
4th in a rookie count
And all those who look down on me I'm tearing down your balcony
but what about Tom Timboe, I mean Tim Tbone, I mean Terry Thomson.....
What is that guys name? Where is he in the rookie of the year race? I mean hes got to be in the top 5 doesnt he? He was a football GOD! The savior of the franchise.
What the heck is his name again?

Alualu is better than McCoy and Suh? PFF say so!
That is exciting to have a two great young ascending DT’s, and OT’s.
Suh is a beast
I really wonder why he is not on this list.

Big plays
are not weighed that heavily with them. They want to see positive plays on a regular basis. Play for play, Suh is a little risk/rewardish. And he doesn’t have the motor that Alualu does. Which I didn’t expect, at least not to this extent.
He was an iron man in college
so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Complete defensive tackle
That’s the part I like.
We all know he’s “not yet a finished product,” but with his attitude and energy, I think he’ll get there more quickly than the norm.
And “certainly isn’t looking like a reach” is something followers of the Jags were led to believe from the reports of Alualu’s first days of OTAs then practice.
I also think Knighton and Alualu have a great chance to rival Stroud and Henderson’s reputation as dominant DTs.

and Scotty McGee
seems the Jags are going to have quite a few jars on the shelf… and not necessarily just sitting and waiting their turns. this looks like it could be a very impressive roster in a year or two.
