Coach Ditka!
Coach Jack Del Rio is an idiot. He is a joke among other coaches and owners in the league. I believe that firing coach Del Rio now sends the right message to the Jaguar fans. I know that I would sure feel appreciated and less taken advantage of if Mr Weaver shows that he really cares about the product that he puts out on the field by making the changes now no matter what the circumstances. I just want to know that winning is really important to Mr Weaver, and that he is just as pissed off as the rest of us Jaguar fans are. Firing coach Del Rio now will almost do for this team now what drafting Tim Tebow would have done for us in the draft. I say get it right this time, and fire coach Del Rio before the bye week ! I think Mike Ditka would liven things up around this town if he became the new head coach. What do you think?

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out Jack. Bring Ditka in to coach for the rest of the season and if he does well give him a 5 yr deal. Now that’s exciting!
NO WAY
I think someone has suffered a really bad concussion
Are you feelin all right? Do you have a fever? Bump your head?
Yeah… let’s bring in the guy who disrespects the town and says we only have 20,000 at the games and ran the Saints back into the ground and….
God I hope you’re joking.
WTF IS THE INTERNET?!?

I was suspect of this piece....
based on the title, and read it to see if someone else had found a useful purpose for Ditka besides Coors Light commercials, because I certainly can not find one. Unfortunately, after the window opened, I saw Timmy’s name high-lighted, and I knew I had entered the twilight zone. So, for the record Kenzster, I do think you are correct. Firing Del Rio and bringing in Ditka would have the same effect on the success of this franchise as drafting Timmy…….not a damn bit!

I disagree...
I think it would have a HUGE effect if we hired Ditka. It would devestate the franchise beyond salvation. Good to see Tebow couldn’t even get into the Broncos’ beatdown yesterday. What a joke.
I do like the ESPN commercial where they are discussing breakfast at Rivers’ house and Ditka screams for “brats and cheese”.
You are right....
and I am with you on Ditka’s current comic genius, just not so sure the football sense is still there.
I may be mistaken, but I believe Tomboy, timbo, whatever his name is, did in fact
get into the game. He aided in a fumble lost.

The "Right Message"?
Wayne Weaver: “Jaguar fans. Since the beginning of the ‘modern NFL (1970’s)’ no team with an interim head coach has gone to the playoffs. No team with an interim head coach has finished above 7-9. Because of these facts, and because I’ve heard your voice, I officially declare Jack Del Rio fired.”
“Further more, this season, though only 7 games old, is officially declared a lost year to rebuilding. We will fold up our tents until next year. We officially waive the white flag of ’can’t wait till the offseason arrives’.”
Ignore the hype; look at the results.
I am not waiving that flag yet....
and I doubt that this team is either. .500 at the break is not the end of the world, and I still think we can beat the Cowboys, who could be 1 – 5 when they face us. Those egos will implode if that is the case. Guys, the Jags can do this!
Just for the record....
Bill Cowher finished coaching:149-90, and out of 15 years coaching only 3/15 losing record seasons, only 2 back to back. He can take us somewhere, and I’m voting for him.
Jack Del Rio, as of right now, is 60-59, and out of his 7 years(completed), 3/7 were losing records, 1 was .500(8-8), and 1 was 11-5 and 1 was 12-4.
Cowher wins sorry Jack.
Cowher's not coming here. The end.
In Gene We Trust.

Ditka is a no-go for sure.
I seriously think the Jaguars need to do one of two things when they get themselves a new HC this offseason; they must either hire a guy coaching in the NCAA or take a guy who is currently a coordinator on an NFL team. With Gene Smith as GM, you need a guy who just coaches. The minute you look at big name guys such as Cowher you run inot the issue of them wanting to be in charge of all personnel moves, and I am just not sure that is what we would want.
As for people who I would consider for our Head Coaching to-be vacancy, or for any coaching position for that matter:
Kirk Ferentz
Jim Harbaugh
Mike Zimmer
Rob Ryan(how much worse than his bro can he be with defenses?)
Brian Schottenheimer
Keith Butler(I would say Dick LeBeau but he is 80 so maybe his LB coach is an option)
Ron Rivera
Clarence Shelmon
Mike Martz
This list is large and some people you might think no way in hell, but this is just my opinion on the matter
What about Shanahan's son? The ex-OC for Houston

Todd O’Conner: “That’s my fifth this week”
Carl Wollarski: “That makes it a baker’s dozen for the month”

Honestly
I think this guy is a joke. I don’t even think he even cares about football anymore. I think he’s working for a paycheck and getting by on his reputation. I don’t hate the guy, but I haven’t word of insight from him in years. He’s out of touch with today’s football.
one of his last interviews with the Saints
he seemed to just not care about football anymore
so i can’t disagree lol
And all those who look down on me I'm tearing down your balcony
he's like Art Donovan cleaned up.
Great steakhouse though. Damn I do love me a good steak with a cigar and Cognac chaser.
I think
that you should have posted this comment in the fire Del Rio thread. I wish people would stop posting little rants as fan posts when they could just as easily post this crap in the comments section of another article.
Poor old dude
Nobody here wants him. I think what he is doing for the retired NFL players is respectable. I think he has made a big difference. I can’t hate on him for saying that Jags games don’t sell out, because they usually don’t. When was the last time Jacksonville had a sold out game? I don’t mean sold enough tickets to have the blackout lifted,I mean SOLD OUT. I am sure that there’s a statitician or future Florio that posts here that knows the answer, if so please tell me when the last SOLD OUT game was. they kept on saying last Monday night during the Jags & Titans game that the game was sold out but I think they were mistaken. I saw a lot of empty seats.
Seats can be empty at a sellout.
If people who bought tickets were unable or unwilling to attend the game. Their tickets are still sold, but no one is sitting there.
I know
But I think we only sold enough tickets to lift the blackout. Which is good. I am just thinking that we haven’t had an actual sell out since a monday night game last year, I could be wrong.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Thank you for stopping him. I thought he was just gonna keep going. I guess he’s the only one who wants those things.
OH im sure he could have in a little way...
Yo tim keep my seat warm…..“andrew luck”
Yo tim, can you get me some water…“mojo”
YO timmy two yards, Show me how not to throw the Ball……thanks man knew you were good for somthing……“every QB”
WE ARE JAGUARS.......FEAR OUR ROAR!!!!!!
That's actually my halloween costume this year
- Broncos shirt, headset clipboard and eyeblack with bible sayings regarding benches and splinters.
I think you missed my point
When mentioning Tim Tebow I was referring to ticket sales if we had drafted him. I think if we had drafted Tebow we would not have to be worrying about our next 4 home games not selling out. I know it was nice to have the first 4 home games sold out and on tv but because the Jags have played so crappy this season and have a losing record, the next 4 home game won’t be on tv because they didn’t sell out. Right or wrong,I believe that if the Jags would have drafted Tim Tebow more Gator fans would have bought tickets before the season and there would be no blackouts this season. I know,I think too much.
Kenzster,
do you really think “gator nation” would have scooped up the remaining tickets? And for that matter, for the tickets you think Gator Nation would have scooped uo, how many real NFL fans would have passed on purchasing season tickets?
Not Just UF fans
Tebow fans. He did go to high school here, right. Joe I checked around and all the “real” nfl fans that I spoke with said that they would still go to Jaguar games if the Jaguars would have drafted Tebow. I am not a Tebow disciple by any means, I am just saying that you are wrong. The Jaguars would have sold more tickets for this year at least if they would have drafted Tebow.
you know what?
Rashean went to school here, no out of the ordinary increase in ticket sales.
Like I said to some idiot reporter, the only thing the Denver game proved is that people will buy 1 ticket and one jersey, nothing more.
Talking it is a different game than actually swiping the card or scratching the check.
When I said that Tim would have had no positive effect on this team....
that included ticket sales. They did not penny up for one game, but you think they would buy tickets for 10 games? No way! The Tebow experiment is nearing the end, just be glad we did not have to pay for it!
couldn't agree more
These same guys are blistering the team for the stupidity of what was given up to take Derrick Harvey and how the 2008 draft set the franchise back, and yet some think Tebow would have solved our problems. You don’t do the “who says you can’t go back home” with NFL players. Rarely works out.
GAJAGFAN
Are you a Gator hater? Of course Tebow would have helped sales this year. We sold out the Denver game because Tim Tebow was coming to town. Did we sell out the last time the Broncos came to town Pre Tebow?
If not wanting TIm Tebow as a Jag makes me a Gator Hater, then buddy sign me up!
Kenz, when the math was done on this very site, the Tebow folks accounted for about 2500 extra tickets at that game. The game was not sold out. No game this year has been sold out. 2500 extra tickets per game would not have lifted all the blackouts. We will never know the truth, and you claim not to be a Tebow disciple, though you exhibit a crazy amount of passion for his effect, but I will believe you.
Beyond the fact that he only resulted in 2500 extra tickets, two things. One, the purchase of one $40 ticket does not equate to a season ticket purchase, and two, what happens when the reality of him NEVER playing sets in? They gonna by tickets to watch him wear a headset? He would have cost us a bunch, we would have got nothing in return, and he would have delayed the development of this team.
my take
maybe I just get tired of the same things always being mentioned when the Jaguars are brought up
Are you guys going to LA?
Is your owner selling the team?
Why the tarps?
Still getting blackouts?
Why not Tebow? It would have been perfect.
Sorry, but I quit reading comments on the TU site because it is the same old same old. I post on here to get away from drivel. But when you mention Ditka as coach and Tebow as a Jag, well it just bothers me. People lose jobs over whimsical decisions, as you mentioned in your McDaniels post.
Looking at the bottom of the page
I guess Adam got promoted and everybody else got fired, haha….
You can't reason with unreasonable people.
you're right that was over the top and disrespectful
uncalled for. I apologize. You didn’t deserve that. I’ll reply in kind.
Here's why I would not do it.
a) we have enough tight ends
b) For everything Tim said, his heart is at qb. I don’t think he’d be real receptive to a position switch
c) We already tried the high pick hybrid guy. Didn’t work. He was contact averse. Tim will be too after a few more hits.
d) We have Miller and Potter. We also have Bolen. Tebow is in that mix
the intent was not to name every white guy on offense who is not a lineman or qb, it was to simply illustrate similar skillsets.
I'll swing it back
Who was the last Heisman winner (who stayed at his college position) who was worth a crap in the NFL?
It is such a different game.
Just stop with the Tebow debate
It ended April 22nd.

yeah you're right
I am just surprised that Tebow is considered a bum now that we didn’t draft him. I remember before the draft a lot of people thought he would be great. I am just throwing things out there to see how people feel still. 88 comments so far is pretty good.
First round?
I never said we should have drafted Tebow in the first round, I just said if we could have gotten somewhere in the draft that it would have helped ticket sales.
if he was available in the 4th, maybe
but you must admit, this team has SO many holes, I just fail to see where Tebow could have a first year impact aside from a gimmick play here or there. I mean if you look at it, since 2009, we’ve gotten regular season contributions from all of our 2009 draftees and this season Alualu and Karim. Lane and Hart are going to be getting some good PT soon as well.
When you look at our last 3 drafts, no one from the 2008 class is starting and 2 guys each from 2009 and 2010 are on IR. Tebow, for whatever his professional skill sets may translate to, would just have been a luxury we could not afford to gamble on.
I would wager to say that the Jags would get more new season ticket holders if they dropped the price of beer $2 a cup than had they drafted Tebow.
