Ask a Giants fan
Hello Jaguar fans, my name's WilI, a member of BigBlueView.
If you have any questions on the Giants, I (and likely a bunch of other guys from BBV) will do our best to answer them.
The greatest thing about SBN in my opinion is talking with fans from all over who want to have real discussion about their respective teams, instead of "my team is teh bestest!!!1! ur team suxxx".
So shoot away

I am a New Yorker so I know a lot as well, so in case you want truthful answers, I am here.
lol, no but seriously, this is going to be a real solid game and I think the injuries to Big Blue might allow the Jaguars to squeak by with a win. Purely based on the rosters they could field if there were no injuries, the Giants are clearly the favorite.
With the loss of Nicks, and Smith what is your WR corps looking like?
Where do you think the Jaguars are going to attack the most?
Is there panic in NY after the loss the Phili or is there always panic in Giants fans?
What are your expectations of the game in general?
Ouch
good questions.
Starters are (presumably) Manningham and Hagan.
I like Manningham but he can make bone headed mistakes sometimes. Hagan is not starting material. He’s okay and can get the job done, but a big drop off from Smith and Hakeem. Behind them are Duke Calhoun (UDFA) who was kept for more of a special teams role, and recently signed Mark Clayton (the guywho used to play for tampa bay). Injuries have taken a huge toll on that position unfortunately.
Seeing as we are without our starting wide recievers and only two members of the oline are playin where they started opening day, I’d expect lots of guys in the box to try and stuff the running game and make Eli beat you. Normally I’d say that’s a position we’d like to be in, but without Smith and Hakeem, I’m not sure if we can reliably make JAX pay for it.
I would not blitz. Eli was amazing cs the blitz against philly, struggling when everyone stayed back because WRs couldn’t get open and trying to force things in tight places.
There’s always panic after a loss. It’s the nature of the beast of being in such a big market. Things might be exacerbated because while there is no real rivalry between the Jets and Giants, the media likes to make it one exclaiming the jets are the best in NY one day, and the giants the next.
Expectations: I’m still thinking win. I can’t say I know nearly as much about JAX as I’d like, but the defense has been solid. While garrard’s been great recently, I think it was your guy over at BBV that pointed out Garrard has had some really ugly games. I think we can provide the pressure to ensure that he has another one of those. Your defense I gotta say I know even less except last year sacks were a problem and may or may not have been solved this year. I think it’ll be low scoring and we’ll churn out a win somehow.

Was it Alfie dissing Garrard?
Because he seems to think less of Garrard than the average fan.
IMO Garrard has stepped up his game this year. Even last game after he had 4 turnovers, he was throwing the ball well enough that it never entered my mind to pull him. Pressure would be an issue. We don’t handle pressure up front too well.

No
JohnathanAdam are the guys that go around calling Garrard inconsistent or unable to carry a team and etc. Alfie usually keeps his comments about Garrard on BCC.
Oh come on, I don’t bash Garrard that hard

Give me a couple of Pros and a couple of Cons in regards to Eli Manning… and your take on the signing of Michael Clayton (Band-aid? Long term? Maybe a wtf ?)
Sean
Pax Armis Acquiritur
Oof
Caught us at a bad time. If you saw the game last sunday, that’s Eli at his worst.
He’s seems to be god for at least one bone headed play a a game.
But when his cylinders are firing, he’s amazing.
Ever since the superbowl, it seems like you have to surround him from all sides to sack him. He moves in the pocket real well.
Personally I love him. There’s lots of people who don’t unfortunately.
Clayton is a band-aid, as of now. If he catches on and show he can do what he did as a rookie, hey never can have too much talent. Not expecting it though.

I live in NJ
and I hate listening to you Giants fans…god i was so glad to hear you guys not talking on monday….but anyway do you think your run defense can stop MJD? And do you think your Offensive Coordianator is going to concentrate more on the run due to the injuries to your #1 and #2?
Ouch man that hurt
“you giant fans”
Yes I do. Besides the 50 yarder McCoy broke out last week (sigh…) the run defense has been stellar.
Chris Johnson was limited until garbage time, Foster was shut down, and so on and on.
The only bad run defense game was vs the Colts of all teams back in week 2. We tried a 6 defensive back, 3 defensive end, and 1 linebacker formation that backfired greatly when Peyton decided to run it more than he has in like the past decade.
As for this question, I don’t know. Maybe. But the hurt o-line makes it difficult.

What is the general opinion among Giant fans on Coughlin?

*snicker*
There is no consensus, because of the nature of the big media circus.
Week 3 (we’re 1-2): COUGHLIN LOST HIS TEAM< FIRE HIM AND HIRE COWHER
Week 9 (6-2): Best coach evar who ever wanted him fired is a durrr
Now: LOST THE TEAM. GET HIM OUT
And if we go on a run it’ll be back to before.
Me personally, I think he’s a damn good coach and has earned the right to keep coaching until he doesn’t want to anymore.

Dare bradshaw to run against us..
BEWARE OF POTROAST & D-LINE..our run defense has been stellar, and hope it continues.. Bradshaw better fix his fumbling problems lol. I wish this game was tomorrow seriously, i dont wanna wait til Sunday. But in all seriousness, i think the win for us relies heavily on the play of our o-LINEEEE
I wish every next game
was right now. The waiting sucks

Do you get the idea that this is a trap game for the G-men
actually, more like a classic look ahead game even with Coughlin’s history in Jacksonville?
Also, what the hell is wrong with Eli? Feet first dude!
I'm sorry
but trap game is my kill trigger.
I’ve heard it way to many times this season already. I doubt it’s a trap game, if one existed, because every game’s near must win now. For all the talk of how the AFC is so much better, it’s really not. The wild card chase is going to be tough. Looksie over here and it’ll explain why
And… I have no defense for that. The annoying thing is while he was running, I was consciously thinking, “don’t fumble the ball like last year where you fall awkwardly. Please.”
Then he falls awkwardly and fumbles. I love Eli as much as a man can love another man, but that’s just bad.

Well not really
we wrecked the redskins in the next game, than proceeded to get wrecked twice.
But that loss essentially sealed us sitting out on the playoffs

Couple of question
We know how good the D-line is of the Gianst but how the LBs and the secondayr looking lately?
Hagan&Manningham what can we expect from them?
O-line: Where are the weak points and which part is looking good now?

LBers
are average at best.
Not weak, but not really playmakers. They do their job.
The secondary… has ranged from very good to below average.
Webster has played really well, TT is inconsistent. Some games he’s the best corner on the team, other’s he gets abused. He’s a solid tackler though.
We use 3 safety sets a lot, Phillips and Rolle are the nominal starters, but Grant gets lots of work, sometimes as a “pseudo-linebacker”. They make their plays.
Hagan is okay. Nothing special, average guy. Manningham is an enigma. The slipperiest receiver on the team, he can make a lot of guys miss, and can go deep pretty well. The big knock on him is his route running can be improved a lot. Sometimes doesn’t run routes past the sticks sometimes. Saying that, I think he’s above average and would start on a team that doesn’t have great receivers.
O-Line: The right side is solid. McKenzie has been having a great year at RT and Snee is an All-Pro at RG. Everything to the left gets hairy. We’re down 3 linesman: Our nominal starting LT (Diehl), Our starting center (O’Hara) and our solid backup center (Koets). Because of this, our nominal starting LG (Seubert) is playing center, Shawn Andrews is the LT, and either Boothe or Petrus will play LG. Andrews hasn’t been to bad at LT. Maybe not great, but isn’t sucking.
We can’t run left really well. The most success has been to the right.

giants secondary
Giants secondary is good, pretty sure its top 10 in the league..their pass rush is solid..if they had Smith and Nicks they would match up soo welll against us, but they dont, and they’re they biggest playmakers on offense, so it kind of makes it more interesting. Vs the Eagles, it looked like no one could get anything started on offense, and that was with Nicks in the lineup..I know eagles defense is better than ours, but you never know..
I have to say
I’ve blocked most of the first half out of my memory already.
But when the Eagles kept everyone in coverage, the other guys couldn’t get open. If they blitzed, Eli made them pay. I wouldn’t blitz if I were the jaguars. At least until the Giants prove that receivers can get open.

MSW's injury hurts us
having msw out of the lineup is rough, we need a wr to step up, if we cant, we should just use Zach miller and the double tight end more frequently..the kid makes plays
What are your thoughts on Ahmad Bradshaw not being the starter? Do you think he will still see a significant amount of carries still?
Had to be done
Turnovers are killing us. Ahmad’s the fall guy.
I don’t know the plan going forward. I’d expect more 50-50 I guess.

He's been doing what he's been asked
He’s a beast on special teams.
He seems to have a great bull rush.
I’m not an expert on line play, but he looks like he belongs out there.
He’s gotten his time for a “project” (i use that term loosely)

he's progressing
but i think he’s hit a lull in his progression. he’s not getting as much push and penetration recently as he did when we went on that 5 game run. he’s still looking for his first sack, although he did get a nice stop on the goal line last game against Vick. but he’s done what he’s been asked to do, i personally would like to see him take that ‘next’ step.
Yes, I am a Giants fan. Now that we got that out of the way....

He was a gamble.
I would have moved up to get Spiller. He has surprisingly little experience for a first rounder. That said he is an incredible athlete so if he can learn the game he may be OK.
