Jason Hill, or Tiquan Underwood?
There has been a lot of talk about Tiquan Underwood, and his bad performance Sunday. A lot of people, my self, say he should be cut, or atleast put back on the practice squad. Gene drafted him, can't give on him yet...
Gene Smith, also claimed Jason Hill off waivers, from the 49ers.
Combine
Tiquan Underwood
40 yard dash: 4.41.
Vertical: 41.5
Broad: 10.9
Jason Hill
40 yard dash: 4.32
Vertical: 37
Broad: 10.3
Size
Jason Hill: 6' 0" 202 lbs
Tiquan Underwood: 6' 1" 183 lbs
OK, Jason Hill is faster then Tiquan, and Tiquan is our speed receiver(+1). Jason Hill issn't taller but he has another 19 lbs on Tiquan, so he can probably block more efficently.
OK, Tiquan Underwood is taller then Jason. He can also jump another 4 1/2 inches higher then him. So that gives the QB a little bit bigger of a window, because T.U. can go up higher to get the ball(not much higher, but a little can make a difference, sometimes).
Tiquan Underwood was drafted in the seventh round, and one of his pros was sure-handed? Two pontential TDs, dropped, and he has has drops before. '
Jason Hill was drafted in the third round. Most people had him projected to go in the late second, due to the deepness of the Wideouts coming out that year.
Hill's career has been limited due to injuries, and such, and I have heard he's been practicing well this week, so what do you think....Tiquan or Jason?

I say give Hill a look...
Underwood had a look last week and he didn’t seize the opportunity. With 2 dropped passes (very likely TDs) and a fumbled kick at end of game that would’ve killed any hope for us, Hill couldn’t do worse.
I have hard wonderful things about Hill from my brother who is a niner fan
I say give him a shot and let tiquan develop some more before giving him a lot of action
I'd like to see what
kassim Osgood, John Matthews, and Hill can do during Mike Sims-Walker’s absence

who knows?
He’s finally playing meaningful games so maybe those nicks that sent him to the sidelines in San Fran are things he can get over. I mean going from that nuthouse in Frisco to here, I mean listen to Kirk Morrison on the radio. The dude is beside himself playing for a winning team.
gotta give jason hill a start..
you have to give him a chance after t.u struggles, btw john matthews made a sick few blocks for MJD’s long ass screen..donnno if anyone noticed..
you never know with wr's
if they get hot, and develop a relationship with the qb,they can turn solid..look at BRANDON LLOYD, the guy was a bust, did nothing special, at most a 6 td season, swapped through 4 teams, ended up on denver, and the guys an absolute freak now, leads nfl in yards recieving, and also has 7 td’s to back it up. He has made so many acrobatic catches this year i cant even tell you, he could make a montage of this year just from the first 10 games..This proves that anything can happen with any wr at any time.
Not so sure I agree
you can defiantly tell the ones who have talent. Brandon Lloyd has always been that guy making catches crazy catches, in SF he was the first receiver post TO to make an impact in the offense. Hes getting the chance to show what he could do now with a quarterback and a little more maturity, its similar to our experiment with Troy Williamson.
Hill is a good athlete who doesn’t really play like one, he can make catches and runs good routes but he won’t blow you away with anything. Hes a stop gap who probably won’t be on the team at seasons end, although I really like him because he was awesome in high school in the area I grew up in.
I was a huge fan
of Lloyd when he was in CHI too. Guy makes some of the most incredible catches. From what I understand he was banged up a lot. He finally healthy, and he’s finally part of an offense that can throw the ball and will.
Ya, I remember when SF moved him a lot of fans weren't happy
I liked him a lot too, more because he wasn’t TO then his play, but he was a fun guy to watch. Glad hes doing well again too.
We will see.
How he does this weekend, apparently Garrard described him as a “smooth” runner, add in the fact he runs a 4.32, put in hands and you have a good WR. My question is why was he not effective in SF? I heard many things from the coach and GM not giving him a chance. Add in the fact of the like QB marry go round and the OC not being the same since like 2002. I guess that is the reason, we will see though. I am hoping for the best, why is our game sunday and not tomorrow!?! haha, go JAGS!
Injuries
can’t really stay on the field, add to the fact that he doesn’t play like his measurables say he should. He won’t blow you away when hes out there, but he shouldn’t make you face palm either.
He had injury problems?
I could not find anything on injury problems, I did find that Singultary basically put him in the dog house by a lot of 49er fans because he would not “practice like he plays in games”. He apparently was not making the same plays in practice that he would make in games, here is the article.

i guess thats a good point with all the inconsistent qbs in san fran, and i wish this game was tm too : (

Nice Breakdown, I say we give Hill the nod. Underwood surely did not give us a reason to have faith in him……Back to the practice squad for another season maybe will help.
well...i forgot where, but somewhere i read
that Underwood, won’t be getting the start, it’ll definetly be kassim or maybe even Hill(of course if MSW is out)

Yeah. Makes sense. Give a guy a shot that hasn’t played a single down for the Jaguars. Never mind the guys already on the team who could step in temporarily.

Seriously?
Like who? Underwood sucks right now, Matthews does not get open, Kassim is a bad route runner. Who else would you want? You have to give people shots and Hill getting a shot is what is best for this team.

Seriously? ha
Just read again what I said… People are clamoring for an unknown to start over known WR’s… Wouldn’t it be easier for the OC to game plan with WR’s whose strengths and weaknesses are already known?… I did not say to NOT give Hill a chance, it just doesn’t make much sense… Who’s to say that Hill could be better or worse?… Then again, you and I aren’t making the game plan, so we should hope that the coaches know best, right? Just beat the Giants!

I just think
Who else on our team could come in that has already came in and played poorly? Kassim has not done anything, Underwood sucks, and Matthews is just out there. Hill could be that guy that helps us, I guess we will see. It makes ton of sense to me, the other WRs are sucking so you have to pass it on to someone who wants to play.
i completely understand where you’re coming from. I’ve barely seen Matthews. He had a good preseason, but that’s about it, I guess. Yeah, Underwood is Mr. Drop da’ Ball. Hell, I’ll take anyone who can play this weekend. Enough with the freakin’ injuries already. Bah humbug, damn it.

Yeah
I am tired of the injuries too, esp. this recent one with Monroe, seems like whenever we start to get rolling something has to hold us back. Lets just hope our defense comes through for us again this week.

if we win
in tennessee we will have all player back and be on a 4 game winning streak
by rhettchrystal on Nov 27, 2010 11:22 AM EST up reply actions
We have to beat NY
to be on a 4 game streak, Tenn. is also an important match up, we need to win that one, if we do we would be 8-4 heading into a matchup against the Raiders. I think that is a winnable game then being 9-4 against the Colts which would I am sure decide first place. But anyway we need to not think too far ahead, tomorrow we have the Giants, GO JAGS!
