Can I get a Report on Gerald Alexander?
You may or may not have heard the Panthers signed S Gerald Alexander earlier today. The way our roster has been in a constant state of flux there's no telling how long he'll last but he just might stick. Looks like he started 3 games for you guys this season but then you cut him? What's the skinny on that?
Strengths & Weaknesses? Happy or sad he's gone?
Did he play special teams? If so, was he any good at it?
We just don't know anything about him. I appreciate any insight you can provide.
Thanks

Alexander was the safety for Jacksonville last year as well
Overall, he’s a run of the mill NFL safety. He’s better as pass coverage than he is at run stopping, but he’s not great at either.
He was penciled in as one of the Jaguars starting safeties, but was cut after a terrible preseason, brought back, and cut again. He’s certainly not Reggie Nelson, so he has that going for him.
I don’t recall him playing special teams.

You guys still down on Nelson?
Man I loved him prior to the draft…surprised he hasn’t been a fan favorite
Would have been
had he played well. After his rookie year many anointed him as our best chance at a player getting pro bowl, after he got 5 INT’s his rookie year. Sadly, everyone was disappointed.
Next time you want to write a story, in the search field of the AP photos, just search Reggie Nelson. All of the photos of him chasing a wide open WR on their way for a TD is why we’re still down on him.

He's probably going tio be a back up.
And he’s ok, he a hard hitting safety, seen it twice where he hits him when the ball gets caught, ball flys and we pick it.
He makes plays
and usually he makes em in bunches, but he misses tackles. He’s slow in coverage, and sometimes he gets out of position. He was an amiable guy, but he didn’t perform up to standards on the field.
no nelson isnt on jags no more
but alexander signing doesnt seem like anything big, he was signed and released a few times..nothing special
Not a whole lot, except for getting burned on almost every play
You can't reason with unreasonable people.
He actually played well
in his first game. But after the film got out there he started to get burned. He has a tell, so to speak, in coverage. We were surprised to get anything for Nelson. So we were more than happy to get any draft pick for Nelson, which we got in addition to David Jones.
