I live in Orlando, I have been a Jaguars fan for a long time now, this is the first year I have owned season tickets and it’s probably the best money I have ever spent. I make the drive from Orlando to Jax and back to Orlando every home game (Monday night was not fun driving back) and even after a loss no matter how heart breaking I am happy I was at the game supporting my team.
During the game when a player makes a bad play or there’s a call that I do not agree with, I get frustrated, but after the game is over I do not wish the firing of anyone, I simply collect my thoughts and realize that this is a game played by a team of men under the leadership of men against another team of men also under the leadership of men. During the game I only think about game play, however once the game is over I start to think about other variables that might cause men to play such a physical game poorly, such as injuries that are not made public, or family problems, or anything that might affect the psyche of the men that play this game.
The Jaguars can lose, or win, they can have seasons of losing records or go to the Superbowl for years straight and I will love the team the same. Do I get upset when the team loses, of course I do. Am I happy when they win, you can bet your behind I am. Win or lose I will always love to be a fan of this team. No matter what decisions management makes, I will never say “because of that I will not buy season tickets” or “because of that I will not attend games” or “because of that I will stop supporting this team” because I understand that they are in this business and they know a lot more about it than I do and I believe they make such decisions with one goal in mind, winning.
I do not care who the coach is, who the starting QB is, who's running the ball, who's blocking, who is playing safety, who the wide receivers are, all I care about is that when they come together they succeed. The worst part is I don't even root for them to win for me, because I will keep buying tickets for as long as I can afford it, win or lose, I want them to win for the "if this person doesn't get fired or benched I will not renew my season tickets" fan. That's who I want this team to win for.
The only thing that upsets me about these losses and makes it hard for me to come on here and read about my team are the comments of other so called “fans”. What upsets me about these comments is that I do not believe the fan base of this team is strong enough to support whatever decisions management makes. I don’t believe there are enough fans that are “in love” with this team to stick with them through thick and thin. There are not enough fans that just watch the game and too many that let management’s decisions influence their “love” for this team. The thing that upsets me the most is that I do not believe that this team has enough fans “in love” with it to stay in Jacksonville. The thing that upsets me the most is that I do not know if the future of the Jaguars in Jacksonville is safe. That is the only thing that truly upsets me about football.
