Kolb would probably be the backup
They wouldn’t have much invested in him with that trade. This is a perfect guy to groom while Garrard is the starter until Kolb is ready to take over.
I think is ready to go right now.
He has been sitting on the bench for 3 years now. If this trade happens it will open the door for a lot of posibilities for the Jaguars. They could trade Garrard for more picks which is the biggsest upside to this trade. Kolb is a young guy with talent and we are in a youth movement. I hope this trade happens.
At first
When I heard this on the drive home I didnt like it but now I do. After the dolphins and colts game last dec the reality is that dg isn’t the answer. 12-20 for $60 mil so far. Not good enough.

It's a team game
I’m not saying DG is perfect but c’mon be fair. How many of those 20 losses can be attributed to the defense? Or to the lack of O-line protection? Or last year with our horrible WR corp? You can’t put the blame on any one single player for everything.
+1
hard for garrard to be throwing good balls from his backside or when WR’s drop balls thrown to them

Be Honest
Hey, I was DG’s biggest defender up until the Dolphins/Colts games this year. How many possesions did we have in Mia terroritory in the 4th quarter with 0 points? 4, i think. DG has the ball and the final drive in shootout with the Colts and is over throwing and INT with the game on the line. I know it is a team game, but the teams that win in this league any more need strong QB play and what I saw from DG, especially in December doesn’t indicate he is the answer. It is hard to admit, hard to swallow, there is not great backup solution currently, but you got to realize this team has no legiti chance at a Super Bowl Ring with DG under center. He had regressed since 2007, not improved, hence a 12-20 record. If we have an elite defense, he is manageable. We aren’t there yet, so in the meantime, you need stronger QB play.
hmm
but is Kolb really the answer i don;t think so

and no one has mention McCown… our current backup… is Kolb that much better than him?… my guess is No.

These stats dont lie.
Kolb would have been a starter two years ago if Philly didnt have Mcnabb. Thats the only reason. He is heads above McCown. I support this trade even though it is just a rumor. I dont think that anyone is throwing DG under the bus here. He played as well as he could under the circumstances. But no matter what he does from this point on, he is still on the wrong side of 30 and we are in a youth movement. Get Kolb and trade DG for the picks.
