That's great

He was really coming along well before he injured himself. I hope he continues to improve and be a great WR for us. Plus, with the release of Holt, he will be a veteran WR that can still teach the other WR’s.

Must have been cheap

if he didn’t even get tendered. And obviously the team thinks he’s more important than they are leading on. That’s good news on 2 accounts IMO.
I wonder how long before some of the other are re-signed.

OK one key(?)

is resigned. Now we can focus on HayDay (R. Hayward)!

Do we wanna...

…resign Hayward? He’s missed a heck of a lot of playing time.

by moufpuncha on Feb 20, 2010 2:09 AM EST reply actions

My only question about him is

is he healthy. Even if he’s only 90% by training camp, resign him. No doubt. It’s not like we got great DE’s lining up around the block. lol
When completely healthy he’s easily the second best DE, and in his HayDay better than Harvey. Still could be better than Harvey this year. Why not resign him?

by Ewdtrey on Feb 20, 2010 4:43 AM EST up reply actions

I cant imagine that he will cost too much either.

I hope they resign him and I also like the resigning of Troy. I think these kind of smart little moves are the ones that will pay off and will become the calling card of the Gene Smith era.

Yeah

I want to keep Hayward and hopefully keep him healthier and get a better pass rush.

Right now...

Hayward is the most effective DE.

If I could resign 1 player from the remaining FAs

Reggie is by far my guy!!!!

I'm right there with you

if you consider the money involved with signing someone else. Peppers is obviously the best DE available, but he’s too much money. I think Hayward is pretty underrated. And honestly he’s about as good as the 3 best available DE regardless of money. I think he’s Ray Edwards good at less than half the price.

by Ewdtrey on Feb 20, 2010 6:23 PM EST up reply actions

i think hayward is a good player

but saying he is ray edwards good might be a stretch

by jags2732 on Feb 20, 2010 11:49 PM EST up reply actions

I say that because I think Edwards is somewhat overrated too. 90% of his sacks come when he’s unblocked or nearly unblocked. I believe Hayday in the same situation has even more production. He’s got the same physical ability, but he’s smarter and craftier. He’s just hurt and older now.

Why not?

I don’t think he’ll make the team without an injury at TE, but he’s a reliable guy that will provide good insurance.

I always liked him...

felt we should have released Williams and not Wilford a couple of years ago….

by mattarne on Feb 23, 2010 9:30 AM EST reply actions

Well

we didn’t exactly release Wilford. He left in free agency. And then he was offered more money than he was worth, by the Dolphins.
