Around SBN: In Crunch Time, Spurs Don't Change Their Game

He's working. He's progressing. He's improving. Look for the Jags to snag him if he falls to the 3rd round. You heard it here first. Let the tears flow...your fears are coalescing.

I believe we will look to bolster our defense in the 1st. The 2nd is a wash unless we can work some trade magic. If he actually falls descends to us in the 3rd...he's coming home.

That would be unfortunate

Hopefully another team will reach for him before our 3rd round pick, that would be what I put my money on. Some other team reaching for him. Also I hope and pray we can get our 2nd round pick back, we need that.

This doesn't help the chances that the Jaguars draft him

If anything it makes me more confident he wont get drafted by the Jaguars.

From what I’ve read and heard, it sounds like there are teams willing to take a chance on Tebow in the second and possibly even the first. It only takes one team to take that chance. If Tebow’s throwing motion and grasp of a pro style offense has really dramatically improved, which seems doubtful in such a small time, than the chances of him falling to the third round are very slim now.

That's true

In that case, it could be our team that takes him in the first. Sound better?

By first

I meant low first. There’s absolutely no way the Jaguars take him as early as 10 or 11.

Oh!

We’ll I guess they’ll trade down. Sound best?

*Well

Not “we’ll”. I don’t know what I was thinking (or typing) there.

Hmm...

If this is true and he can shorten and tighten his throwing motion I would have no qualms with drafting Tebow in the third or trading down and even taking him in the second…It was never his ability to play the game that caused me to doubt him, but his motion. If he fixes that he will be deadly in the NFL, very similar to the Mannings…Now, that is only my opinion, so don’t bite my head off anyone :)

What is The lowest

Round a heisman winner who declared eligibility in the draft was picked? Third sounds like it has to be close to(if not) a record. Anyone have any stats?

Did he declare?

That is amazing if he did. Charlie Ward said he wouldn’t take less than the first and opted out, but UNDRAFTED? Wow.

He did.

Just didn’t get drafted, and didn’t even get a work out for a little while.

by Kbot on Feb 22, 2010 5:17 PM EST up reply actions

Really

A lot of Heisman winners don’t get drafted high, or make a big impact in the pro’s. Like Brad Smith almost won the Heisman and I think he went in the 7th.

I don't know

What round exactly, but it’s my prediction that the Jacksonville Jaguars draft Tim Tebow. Contemplate that, haters.

How about we do a charity bet?

$25 to Habijax? We can have a nice fundraiser if there are takers on both sides.

Any Takers?

I know of a site that specializes in this kind of thing. Warren Buffet had a huge bet with an investing group that had the proceeds go to charity. If anyone wants to put their money where their mouth is and do it in the name of charity, step on up!

Don't try to give my money to charity

You can be charitable on your time. If you want to gamble with me you gotta pay me!

Gambling is always charity

Instead of donating to the house, why not do it for a good cause? After working in a casino, I won’t wager anything unless the right people win.

I'm not the house

I’d say I’m closer to the shed…maybe the outhouse.

I think

Throwing at the combine would have dropped his stock. The coach he is working with prolly told him to hold off until the Pro Day, which gives him like another three weeks to work on his motion.

I don’t think its going to help that much at all. It really is impossible IMO to change a person’s throwing motion. It may look great in shorts, but when your under a GaS blitz, the ball is going to come out how it feels natural, which is your first.

Really, Impossible?

I can think of one example where a QB’s throwing motion has been altered. We all know and love/hate him and he wheres Teal and Black…Garrarde coming into the league had an awkward throwing motion and a hitch in his footwork. Shula came in, worked with Garrarde during the off season, and wham bam thank you sam we have the 2007 season…

Yep

DG could, BL would not. One ascends, the other is a Buc. It’s all about the will, the spirit. Will you or won’t you. Tebow will.

From what I’ve been reading, it seems both of the Mannings and Philip Rivers changed their throwing motions between their last year and the combine.

by Kbot on Feb 23, 2010 12:32 AM EST up reply actions

The Mannings and Rivers may have refined their throwing motions

But did they have to completely scratch it and start over?

Honestly, I have no clue. Maybe?

by Kbot on Feb 25, 2010 1:50 AM EST up reply actions

The Manning's

They were the first ones that popped into my head when I was trying to remember QB’s that had changed their throwing motion. I however was 100% sure…
