Trade Back?
Should our Jaguars trade back in the draft??I think not becaue This year there are a lot of great defensive prospects. DEFENSE!!!! That is what our team needs. Were not going to get anything good with a second round pick and late first round pick. We need to take advantage with this pick in this draft, because we can fulfill the needs of our team in this draft and still maybe get the BAP. Trading back would be stupid in my opinion. What's your opinion?

We don’t really have the picks to trade up. With only 5 picks and too many needs I don’t think its an option.
Do you mean trading back?
And acquiring more picks? Trading up would mean giving something away (picks, players) to get a higher pick (1-9). Trading back is giving up our spot at 10 for more picks later.
Personally, I support trading back and acquiring more picks because right now we only have 5. This team needs depth and it’s a deep draft for defensive talent. Plus you don’t wanna pay another top 10 pick top 10 money. But as Vic says it’s all about recouping value for the pick.
No
I dont think you ever trade up in a deep draft. That seems like an obvious comment. I understand what you are saying about our defense, but lets be patient. Wait for the Pro Days to rap up and lets get an idea of where people will fall before us. Lets not forget last year how over the last 24 hours before the draft, Tyson Jackson went from a mid 1st rounder to the 3rd pick in the draft. Bruce Campbell and Brandon Graham could both be guys still shooting up boards just before the draft begins. Someone we may never expect could possibly fall to us again. If we are going to trade, lets trade back, or try to get some picks back for Veterans.

Defiantly NO
We’ve been in the top 10 draft pick for a few years now. Why would we trade UP and cause Mr. Weaver to pay out MORE money?
Sorry
everyone. I read the headline wrong. I meant to say that we should not trade up in the draft. But, we should trade down (even Gene said he’d like to do it) to acquire some picks.
question, would you trade this years 1st, 10th pick and next years 3rd for a top 3 pick, Suh, Mccoy, or Bradford. Money excluded from being apart of the calculation.
nope
That kind of thinking is what gave us Harvey. We’re not one player away from eliteness.

Trade Back
No quality in the late 1st/2nd round?
2006 Round 1 (2nd half): Antonio Cromartie, Davin Joseph, DeAngelo Williams, Nick Mangold, Joseph Addai – All Pro Bowlers
2nd Round 2: Maurice Jones-Drew, Devin Hester, Marcus McNeil, Roman Harper, DeMeco Ryans – All Pro Bowlers
2007 Round 1 (2nd half): Michael Griffin, Brandon Meriweather, Jon Beason – all pro bowlers
2007 Round 2: Sidney Rice, LaMarr Woodley, Steve Smith (NYG), Ryan Kalil – all pro bowlers
There are other good quality guys; there’s talent to be had in every round a personnel guy just has to find it. And Gene Smith has proven he can find it, especially in later rounds. I’d rather give Gene 7 picks to play with than 5: it’s a numbers game, and the more picks one has the more talent you’ll end up hitting on.
Ignore the hype; look at the results.
