Jag-Draft...tell me what you think!

Any thoughts? This was made with Draftek

1

10

Jacksonville

Dez Bryant

WRF

Oklahoma State

Here Dez Bryant would be not a very good pick for the Jags, with McClain and Spiller still on the board.

3

74

Jacksonville

Morgan Burnett

SS

Georgia Tech

I honestly do not know who this is

4

105

Jacksonville

Ed Dickson

TE

Oregon

Virtually an impossibility but in theory he could be BAP here, I doubt it

5

139

Jacksonville

Trevard Lindley

CB

Kentucky

He would be an excellent pick here in the 5th, as a dime or nickel back and a returner and possibly a long-term fill for Rashean Mathis (probably with work will be Tyron Brackenridge with Derek Cox as the premier corner when Mathis transitions to Nickel, Dime, or Situational DB)

6

170

Jacksonville

Mike Kafka

QB

Northwestern

OK, this is a good idea, late round Big-10 QBs have done well in the NFL...I would have prefered Riley Skinner

Bryant not worthy of 10th-Ed Dickson more than worthy of a 4th.

I’m with you on Ed Dickson, but he won’t be in the 4th. Dickson is a mismatch waiting to happen. I’d strongly consider him in the 3rd.
It would be wise for the Jags to trade their 10th overall pick-while avoiding Tebow. There is immense talent in a deep pool of late 1st, 2nd and 3rd Round picks. Such as DT UCF Torrel Troup -who is a powerful pocket collapser that can occupy and break doubleteams.
If Jags cannot trade, they would be doing themselves a 325lbs favor when selecting DT Dan Williams TN.
In 3rd RD if Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is there it would be wise to grab him. He is this year’s Sleeper at CB.. He is able to play the FS as well.

My problem

with their system is that I don’t like their big board. It doesn’t take into account the types of players we like. For example, Bryant isn’t exactly a great character guy and so he would be lower on our board than he would on their board.
And somehow I doubt we will pick a slow CB no matter how low the draft pick.

all the way agree with you man, I couldn’t find an alternate simulator though, and I was trying to get the Jags to take not a WR or DE in the 1st round

Use their options.

You can tell it not to recruit a certain player, or change the way he has needs rated for each team.

thanks man, Dez Bryant was starting to get to me

now Derrick Morgan in the 1st, a TE in the 2nd, a few other guys, and Dekoda Watson of FSU in the fourth which would be amazing

yeah, I am not going to use DraftTek anymore, even overriding their cruddy logic system, I still ended up with the Jags taking Dez Bryant in the 1st….funny in the last one I ran before I gave up, the Jags took apprently three TEs, a UCONN DE, and Trevard Lindley
that would cause a riot, which I for one would join

by jawsaints on Mar 10, 2010 10:23 PM EST reply actions

I just set WR to be a lower priority, and we ended up with Derrick Morgan or Pierre-Paul every time I ran it. By default, they have the Jags’ WR priority set at highest.

by Kbot on Mar 12, 2010 2:52 AM EST up reply actions

yeah, I tried setting DE to a lower priority but still gave Morgan or JPP to us still b/c according to their bigboard, they are BAP

Waber-Jaguar

by jawsaints on Mar 12, 2010 9:33 AM EST up reply actions

I think if every position is set at the same priority level, then it will pick BAP.

by Kbot on Mar 12, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, but I personally think we will end up with someone who no one had predicted

FRANK is proven correct I believe after two hours I can safely say, at least this isn’t my research and oh yeah this draft? YUCK, the same board gave Spiller to the Texans etc. etc.

I will try another DT one sometime later and I will present my personal one like early april

C

WR is ok but we donnt need a TE

We need a safety an ILB or OLB a and DE

WR would be the east concern

by rhettchrystal on Mar 11, 2010 9:30 AM EST reply actions

1. SS or DE
3. SS or LB
4. LB
5. WR
6. QB Armanti Edwards

Dez is not a great pick, but Spiller and McClain still being on the board are not the reasons why that's a bad pick.

All 3 lack Top 10 value. In fact I’d probably take Dez over the other two, but I’d also trade away my pick for nearly anything to not have to pick any of those players at #10.

Sean Lee is another player I like, hes a very agressive player, and can be a key player for us.

Another LB

that plays fairly similarly to Sean Lee is Joe Pawelek. He’s not as good at shedding blocks but they have similar skill sets and stacking/shedding can be coached.

haha

Its cool how my diamonds in the rough are these guys.

Dan Conner

Was a similar linebacker from Penn State a few years ago. He was projected as a second but ended up going in the third. He was a Bednarik winner as well, and better than Sean Lee. So unless there is a scramble for inside backers in the second I think we could grab him in the third.

Conner was more

technically sound, but I think Lee is a little more athletic.

by Ewdtrey on Mar 12, 2010 2:38 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

Yet Lee still doesn’t strike me as a sideline to sideline, dominant middle backer. If we can’t get our hands on one this season, we should almost wait till next draft. We could draft an outside backer this year to shore up the position, but I want a fast, sweet MLB.
