With the 20th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select G Mike Iupati, Idaho

A great meeting of value and need here at pick 20. Mike Iupati is easily the best guard in the draft and will help fortify the offensive line making the offense even more dangerous. Cornerback is another position that needs to be addressed, but none is worth using the 20th pick on. Quality corners will be available in the second and third rounds.

Noooooo!

Good pick for the Texans. Damn.

Ignore the hype; look at the results.

Luckily

it’s not real life. haha
It wasn’t a pick I had previously thought of, which makes me really like it, especially because it totally makes sense.

I would argue that

someone could draft Kyle Wilson that high. And I would too, if I knew that he could learn to catch the darn ball. lol
Otherwise I think he’s easily worth going this high. Great feet, good physicality tackling in press man, good returner. Just has horrible hands. And for me, being able to catch int’s consistently is important in my book.

with the 21st pick...

I just put in the 21st pick—for some reason it wouldn’t let me do it under the quotes part so I used a regular fan shot—hopefully, one of “you admin” guys can help move it to the front page for me—thanks in advance (I have to work tomorrow and wanted to get it in tonight).

Really good pick

I hope the Jags can trade down a spot pick up a 2nd and get him!

I would hate

to draft a TE high in this draft. BUT BAP right? :-/

Who is the TE you talking about dear Ewdtrey?

Iupati is G; and I talked about him here.

We will take either a d-back or d-lineman with the first pick.

Really?

I was reading a lot over on BRB and it sounded like Iupati would be the pick out of those available. I considered Kyle Wilson, but didn’t think he was worth the 20th pick and I thought about Brian Price, but it sounded like the fans wanted a huge, almost NT sized guy. Dan Williams was off the board and Cody’s not worth the 20th pick.

This was the post that helped me the most:

Yeah...

I feel like this or Maurkice Pouncey would happen if they didn’t go Kyle Wilson or Dan Williams (who is off the board).

I don’t think it’s a bad pick…the offensive line could use all the help it can get. Especially since the Texans gave up 12 sacks in 6 division games.

People assume that the O-line needs improvement more than the D-line.

You have to remember that Steve Slaton ran for 1200ish yards his rookie season behind the SAME LINE.

The issue with our oline this year was that BOTH starting guards were injured for the season.

Do we have the best oline in football? no , not even close.

But with our injured starters back and guys who replaced them playing well after gettig a season of experience, D-line is a much greater priority.

In summary, you have to look beyond just the 2009 season, because losing both gaurds was an anamoly.

I thought your

back up LG played well in spurts. Very nimble guy. Still might want to find someone for the short yardage situations too though. I think you guys could get by with the OL you have now, but I would hesitate to upgrade any one of the positions, even at LT. I thought you guys reached a lot for Duane Brown. I haven’t seen him play in a while, but last I saw him he had a long ways to go. Not to mention you really need to keep Shaub healthy to have a chance of getting into the playoffs, and he exactly and iron man.

Because who knows if we will get lucky again with someone falling down the board.
