With the 22nd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State. The Patriots are in desperate need for pass-rushers and linemen after the departure of Richard Seymour. The Patriots ranked 23rd in the league last season in sacks and 20th in rushing yards allowed. Odrick makes perfect sense for the Patriots because he is a DT who could also play DE, and for the Patriots who have a hybrid defensive system this is a perfect fit. Odrick gives the Patriots youth and talent on their defensive line and hopefully another cornerstone of their rebuilding defense.
