With the 24th pick of the Draft the Eagles pick Carlos Dunlap, DE from Florida
The Eagles look to upgrade on the other side of Trent Cole. Their defense likes to put pressure on the Qb and Andy Reid likes drafting lineman. Although character is an issue, that has not stopped the Eagles getting players in the past(Owens, Peters). He has a high ceiling so the risk can be worth the reward where the Eagles are picking because they are old behind Cole and mediocore at best on the other side.

Hm...

Dunlap is an interesting player. I don’t know what to think of him, but I do think that he is worth the 24th. Good pick.

Not a bad pick at all

I just don’t know if he’s the type of player they usually draft. You’re right in that they like drafting linemen high and often. And they do want to upgrade their pass rush. I just don’t know if Dunlap is their type of player. They usually like the quick twitch types that are not all that big, but are thrashers and gritty players. Just take a look at their DL. Their DT’s are under 310 lbs and and shorter than 6’2". And their DE’s are 6’2’ and 6’3". The like the quick stocky guys that have good leverage and a good first step.

Everson Griffen

is more of their type of player for their DL. And so is Brian Price. But they are better at DT than DE right now. I’m sure they have Price rated high though.
Kyle Wilson is also their type of player, and they like hoarding those CB’s. And the fact that they are CB’s hoarders means Devin McCourty could be their pick too.

McCourty

Just seems like a safe pick to me. The guy isn’t going to develop into a first corner, but at worst he would be an outstanding nickel.

Hit enter too soon

He would be a good option when I team doesn’t know where to go if their draft plan hit the fan. Can’t go wrong with a safe cornerback.

I think he's got some

upside too. He could end up being pro bowl player.

I think it is a good pick

Carlos Dunlap is the most ready DE in the draft.

No way

That would probably be any number of other DE’s. Brandon Graham and Derrick Morgan are examples of more NFL ready players.
