With the 29th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Sergio Kindle, Outside Linebacker from Texas.
In 2009 the Jets had the top rated defense in the NFL. Despite that, defense is where the Jets seem to needs some improvements. DE is the most glaring position, as both starters are over 30 years old. OLB is the other position that needs improvement, and WR as well as NT/DT could use depth. Really, they just need someone who can rush the passer consistently. They had 32 sacks last year and while that isn't bad... it isn't great either. And for a top defense in the NFL, a great pass rusher could help them continue to dominate.
In years past the Jets have traded up in the first round to select players they target. While that could happen again, the needs are not so glaring and the draft is deep in the positions they would like to improve, so while they might move up on draft day, don't bet on it.
Sergio Kindle falling to 29 is likely the best thing that could happen to the Jets on draft day. He has a great package of speed, weight and height. His athleticism translated into him playing various positions in college, so don't be surprised if he draws time in other positions, at least in practice. He is likely the best pass rushing OLB prospect in the draft (if you consider Graham a DE). This would be as solid a pick as the Jets could hope for on draft day.
(P.S. Did you say 3-4 sentences or paragraphs describing the pick, Loesche? I'm windy, I know...) ;)

I really think...
That too many people has Golden Tate going to the Jets. I’d say that unless all options at OLB (Brandon Graham, Kindle, Weatherspoon and, the guy a lot of Jets fans like, Jerry Hughes) are gone, I’d think they’ll address OLB.

Good pick
I don’t want to see Kindle fall this far. Jets would be thrilled if they could grab him.
