With the 30th pick in the NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Brian Price, DT, UCLA.
Apart from the problem at QB, the Vikings are in dire need of talent at the DT and CB positions. Tackles Pat and Kevin Williams are facing potential four game substance abuse penalties, but the greater problem is that Pat Williams will be 38 this year and though backup UFA Jimmy Kennedy resigned he is more of a backup. At CB the picture isn't much better with an aging Antoine Winfield, he'll be 33, while Cedric Griffin may possibly miss at least the start of the season. They did resign Benny Sapp but neither he nor Asher Allen appear to be every day starters.
With Kyle Wilson off the board this is an easy pick. The Vikes could go Terrence Cody if they switch to a 3-4 but as it stands Price is a perfect addition to their attacking front 4. They'll hope to grab a CB in round 2.

Jimmy Kennedy resigned with Minnesota a day or so ago.
Not sure if that completely eliminates this pick as Price might be BPA at # 30.
I actually pre-wrote this
When I had my review done he hadn’t resigned. I don’t think it changes anything as no CB left warrants the pick.

Nice pick
Vikings are old when it comes to talented players inside. Price is a steal here. Value and need in the same pick.
