With the eighth pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select: Anthony Davis, offensive tackle, Rutgers.
With big Al having gone offense in the first round for the last three years, he does it again. The Raiders, or at least Tom Cable and Al Davis, are desperate to salvage the career of Jamarcus Russell, and a left tackle to protect his fumble prone blind side will only help.
Sure, not the typical Raiders pick. Taylor Mays, beating Trindon Holliday in the 40, has to be taken into consideration. But Al once was a football mastermind, I think he'll make a good pick this time round. Davis is athletic, has good technique, and is surprisingly strong for someone who was rumored to not like the weight room in college. Without a doubt the best tackle behind Okung.

Best available OT
Good pick. Should start immediately.
The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall.

I get what your saying
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did go with Bruce instead, because of his measurables.
Nah
We are going to get him in the second when we trade back to get a second rounder. He smoked Trindon Holliday and barely lost to Spiller.

We'll see
I agree he’s fast, he got ripped on his official time. I doubt he’ll be a Jag. He’s bound to be a Raider.
Vae Victis!
I think
Even the Raiders know if they D in round one it has to be at end. Derrick Morgan, or Carlos Dunlap?

It's the Raiders
It’ll be Jason Pierre-Paul. All athletics no football smarts (or at least not yet).
Ignore the hype; look at the results.
Taylor Mays
wont be a safety for the Raiders. They already got a few high round draft picks at safety.
In the second
He is pretty good value. Especially if its mid to late second. The guy has some coverage flaws, but like Deion said, “If he runs a 4.3 I can work with him”

Al never does what anyone expects, he enamored by speed
He might go Mays or even Spiller. My prediction for Al’s pick, as crazy as it sounds, is Dez Bryant.
But solid pick, bestjagfan. Hopefully Al nods off right before the pick and someone else runs to the podium with a sensible pick like this one…

We have to get back to playing Raider ball
Back in my day….err, where was I?
JaMarcus Russell, while he still needs to learn alot about the game weapons. After our stellar 2009 1st Round Pick of DHB, we’ll follow it up with a Lions (or Jaguars) second WR in the 1st Round.
I hate Lane Kiffin, and hope he gets the death penalty…err, I mean USC gets the death penalty.

Al Davis seems hell bent on proving JaMarcus Russel can be an NFL QB. Tom Cable, not so much. He’s the one who finally benched Russell, and it was rumored he would only come back and coach this year if Al didn’t force him to play Russell. I think Russell is done in Oakland as long as Cable is there.
On to the draft pick, OT seems pretty mundane for Al Davis. However, he did go Gallery a few years back at #2. I know that didn’t work out, but it does show that Al can go for the mundane OL pick. Anthony Davis is as good a guess as any for the Raiders, since no one ever knows what they are going to do. And he would fill a need.

Yeah, But Robert Gallery looked like a Raider
With that hair it was fate that made him a Raider.
Davis, I think, will be fated to the Raiders. Wouldn’t it be ironic that one of California’s teams, the Raiders, would have a “star” 1st Round quarterback and 1st round offensive tackle that couldn’t keep their weight in check?
Ignore the hype; look at the results.
Cable
Benched Russell, I know. But during combine interviews he said Russell is a viable starter and the team is committed to him.
