Help a Louisiana Man Find his Way!
We are doing a mock draft at Canal Street Chronicles, and I was wondering if a few of you could assist me in making an accurate prediction for the number 10 pick. Most of the information I acquire here will go towards my write-up, so feel free to shoot out plenty of facts, analysis, and good old fashion opinions (Why not, we all have one). Please feel free to fill out the questionnaire below. Thanks for the future collaboration and good luck this offseason!
1. Who are the top three players you would like to see the Jags take in the 1st round?
2. Who, in your opinion, is the organization most likely to draft in the first round? What factors make this more likely than the other s?
3. What is the long shot scenario that might have a chance to play out on draft day as far as the Jaguars are concerned?
4. What is the worst case scenario for the Jaguars in this year's draft?
5. What position(s) are of most urgent need in your offense? Your defense? Which one is greater?
6. Are the Jaguars more likely to go for the best player available or fill a need at a specific position?
7. What other, if any, required reading would you recommend for me before I do my write-up?

Hmmm
1. Realistically, CJ Spiller, Rolando McClain, Derrick Morgan
2. A defensive end is the most obvious position to look at because of the Jags piss poor pass rush. However, I think defense in general is the biggest concern.
3. Two scenarios would be good for the Jaguars
A. Eric Berry falls to #10
B. Jimmy Claussen falls to #10
4. The Draft Tebow crowd riots when the Jags don’t take him
5.Offense: QB, Guard, Center
Defense:DE, DT, S
6.BPA
7.Go the the section index and click on 2010 NFL Draft. Should suit your every need.

Thanks for the information
I will take it into consideration. If Tebow gets selected in the 1st round I think the suicide rate would go up in your area.

Cool of you to ask
1. N. Suh, McCoy and Berry? Ha! Sorry: Derrick Morgan, Joe Haden or Rolando McClain
2. Defensive End. Whether they trade back and take care of it, or stay at 10, a defensive end is the most likely position to be drafted, because it seems need should meet BAP.
3. Hm… a couple of people do think Berry might fall, so I’ll agree with Jonathan that and Claussen, if only because the two scenarios would mean trade chances increase.
4. Worst case? Tebow is drafted at 10 and the serious fans riot.
5. Offense: Center, QB, Guard; Defense: DE, S, DT
6. BAP – though the two might just meet.
7. Go to Jaguars.com and read the draft value board made by the senior editor there, Vic Ketchman. Also, you might like to read his daily ‘Ask Vic,’ it is a very good read. :)

Note:
I would drive up to Jacksonville to join in the riot if Tebow was drafted 10 overall. ;)

1. If we stay at 10, I’d say 1. Rolando McClain 2. Joe Haden 3. Derrick Morgan
2. I expect them to draft a linebacker early. They have said that they want to get a new MLB that can start and that has to be found in the early rounds, if not the first.
3. A big trade from a team in the back half of the first round to come up and acquire the #10 pick.
4. Tebow
5. Offense has interior line needs and then there is a need for a quarterback for the future
Defense has needs at everywhere but CB. To prioritize, I’d say DE, DT, LB, S, CB
6. Absolutely BAP. The needs are to sporadic for the Jaguars to have a chance to draft a specific need.
7. Ask Vic like Alwaysforgiven said is really good, but it might be difficult to find the specific answers you’re looking for. I’d stick with what we have here at BCC like John said.

Thanks for asking and congrats on beating the Colts
1. Who are the top three players you would like to see the Jags take in the 1st round?
Rolando Mcclain, CJ Spiller, (best available player) or Derrick Morgan in this order
2. Who, in your opinion, is the organization most likely to draft in the first round? What factors make this more likely than the other s?
The best available player is who we are most likely to get. If it was CJ Spiller and Derrick Morgan left. We would select CJ Spiller becuase he is better value. Our total approach is value and that is also why we aren’t big spenders in the Free Agency anymore.
3. What is the long shot scenario that might have a chance to play out on draft day as far as the Jaguars are concerned?
Trade back to the later part of the 1st round and garner other picks.
4. What is the worst case scenario for the Jaguars in this year’s draft?
Reaching for a guy like Jason Pierre-Paul just because of need. He’s way too raw a player.
5. What position(s) are of most urgent need in your offense? Your defense? Which one is greater?
Offense- OG, OC, QB
Defense- OLB/Rolando Mcclain, DE, #2 or #3 CB, FS, SS, maybe DT
6. Are the Jaguars more likely to go for the best player available or fill a need at a specific position?
BAP
7. What other, if any, required reading would you recommend for me before I do my write-up?
Go to Jaguars.com and look at this column done by Vic Ketchman where he answers questions from Jags fans. He tells what we as a franchise are and how we do things.

Vic said something that has me worried

Do teams value players in the draft on their ability to play right away?
Vic: That’s how mistakes are made. You end up picking a guy with great technique who’s ready to play now, but he’s as good as he’s going to get. Meanwhile, you passed on a player who, with development, will achieve a much higher level of performance in the long term. Take care of the future and the future will take care of the present.
Am I over-analyzing, or that with the combination of JPP being #5 on his value board make me wonder if the Jags are targeting him?
Ignore the hype; look at the results.
I think so. JPP is way too raw. Not to mention if he is the pick then Gene Smith immediately gets retro-blamed for all the Jags previous failures.

I don't think Vic's board is an accurate indicator of what the Jaguars want
I just can’t fathom the Jaguars having Taylor Mays over Earl Thomas and Joe Haden on their board.

His board looked pretty bad to me.
I honestly think he wanted to make a little of a stir. Either that or he wanted something to change later on. I can sort of understand Bradford and Clausen being as low as they are, but not Haden. I did a double take at where he was. McClain was a bit low, but I believe he explained that well in the list and in one of his questions.

I can actually understand Haden
I’m more commenting on how high Mays was. Wherever Haden and Thomas are, Mays has to be lower. Much lower.

I think the Jags board is different than Vic's
Vic does his on talent and potential. i think the Jags do theirs on Value and character.

There may be something to what you think you see
Seeing JPP sitting there so high on Vic’s board, just did not seem very Vic like to me. Tying in what Vic said, has the value board making a little more sense. I think that Vic was pretty much dead on with his value board last year. He has dropped subtle hints in his post responses in the past, that he has referred back to after the fact. Having said that, he does, usually, set up the board based on proven talent & NFL potential, as TealDeal states. Interesting, but I tend to over analyze, too. ;-) Either way, his board just doesn’t look right, somehow.
