Chris Steuber of Scout.com is reporting that the Jaguars have scheduled a private workout with Appalachian St QB Armanti Edwards. The workout is scheduled for March 17th. No word on whether he'll work out as a WR, QB, or both.

Interesting

By the way who will be the returner this season for us????

Life without knowledge is death in disguise

by Zoltan from Budapest on Mar 8, 2010 9:06 PM EST reply actions

Mike Thomas

is scheduled to be the starting returner.

Osgood and Thomas

maybe Montell Owens?

Osgood is not

a return man. Behind Thomas will probably be a rookie returner. Jennings and Tiquan will also serve as depth. And if Starks makes the team he can be a returner too. Don’t forget MJD too.
But Osgood? No way.

really?

So Osgood is more Nick Sorenson than Mike Thomas when it comes to the ST department.

Yes more like Nick

but like a super version of him.

I want to forget MJD in this position.....

I have never been a big fan of your star back being a return man for kick off or punt. There are some big impacts out there, the type that can take you out of the game, either for a few plays, the rest of the game, or the whole season. I hope they discontinue the practice of MJD as a return guy.
On the subject of Armanti Edwards, my daughter goes to Georgia Southern, and we got a chance in 2008 to watch him play in Statesboro. The guy is a great athlete. He is dangerous when has the ball and I think would be a great return man, but could play a role like Mike Vick played in Philly this year. He has a decent arm too. I think due to the school he went to, he could be a great catch for not a bunch of cash.

Haha when MJD returns it's always at the end of the season

And it always reminds of Waterboy. “Last game of the season, don’t hold anything back.”

“Last game of the season don’t hold anything back”………“I know” lol

As for Edwards

maybe he can be a safety.

by Ewdtrey on Mar 8, 2010 9:34 PM EST reply actions

I think

switching from QB to WR is going to be hard enough for him, let alone switching from offense to defense

by bigkorean on Mar 8, 2010 9:53 PM EST reply actions

QB to S

is actually a common move. Shoot we tried it last year with the former Louisiana Lafayette QB, Michael Desormeaux.
It used to be more common back in the day, but it’s not like it’s dead now. Shoot safeties tend to pick up their assignments more quickly than WR’s who usually take about 3 years to assimilate.

Without the… nevermind

I love this guy. Athlete. Plus, he has some magic to him.

jesus, people.. i suppose i shall remind everyone that this is the time of Smoke & Mirrors in the NFL… every team does it… our beloved Jaguars included…. yes, they may be genuinely interested in him, but i have my doubts…

No real reason

to put a smoke screen out there on a low round guy that most people already know about. The draft is convoluted to need a smoke screen on someone like Edwards.

C'mon, Trey

What else is happening on March 17. Think about it.

not so much a screen for this guy in particular… but perhaps misdirection for the type of player they may be looking at

This guy will probably be a returner and maybe try converting him to a DB, but other then that he cant do anything else.
