NFL Moves
Check out all of the moves made in the NFL today. I only point them out because I think many of them have bearing on the upcoming draft.
The biggest move you ask??? Adam Carriker. Who is that, you ask. Well he's a DT that was drafted by the Rams 13th over all in the 07 draft, and he was just traded to the Redskins.
Why is this important? Well for one, Suh is a DT, and now the Rams have a huge need for DT. Second, we all thought that the Redskins liked Bradford. Was the Redskin's trade for Carriker a ploy to entice the Rams to draft a DT, so that Bradford would fall? Did the whole draft just get shaken up? If he gets past the Rams will someone trade up to 3 to get him?
The former Jaguar Torry Holt was just signed to a one year contract by the Pats. You know they're hurting for a WR if they are signing our trimmings for the second year in a row.(Fred Taylor)
Last move, Jason Taylor was just signed by the Jets. Not a huge move, but this may change what the Dolphins and Jets both do in the draft when it comes to OLB's.
Did you see any other transactions that would suggest a change in draft philosophy in the coming days?

I had missed that...

Lefty is a Steeler again
They traded a 7th round pick over TB for him
I think BB will be suspended for a loooooong time!

I wonder who
starts in Ben’s place. I have to believe it would be Lefty at this rate. I would have given Dixon a chance.
Dixon was quite good (for 1 game)
Lefty was veeeery good in ’09 (for 1 game)
It is an open battle
By the way what happened that so many signings/trades was reached today??

good points
Yea Carriker is a natural 5 teq. Good move on Skin’s part.
The Rams like their 4th RD pick last year- DT Darell Scott-but he def needs a partner.
I think it might come to who the Ram’s think they can get in the 2nd RD.
What duo looks better to them
Ndamukong Suh and Mccoy/Tebow or
Sam Bradford and Brian Price
They have a lot of holes to fill and might have someone rated over Brian Price in 2nd tho.

I can't imagine
that they like Scott that much considering that he was inactive till week 6 and no sacks on the year. And he only started 5 games on the year. They may have hope for the guy, but I doubt they consider him an above average starter.
He showed he could be
disruptive in the last 5 games. 26 tackles coupled with disruptive play made them high on him. High could mean 2nd DT or 3rd DT.. They def need more players there. Of course he needs to win out in competition..

I think we should have signed Taylor instead of Hayward. It would have cost about the same money and your getting a better pass rusher would doesn’t have nearly as long of a injury history. Plus Jason Taylor is a bigger name and would have created more buzz for fans interested in buying season tickets

It would have about the same money
That’s the flaw in your otherwise good logic. Jason Taylor just got 2 years, $13 mil. Reggie Hayward got 1 year for barely over the veteran minimum.

Not to mention
Hayward is a better 43 player. And he can play inside as well as DE. Taylor is a one trick pony at this point in his career.
Yeah but a trick Pony might be better than a injury prone backup DE. I’m a Hayward fan and I hope he does well this season. I’m just sayin I think that at the right price Taylor could have been good in Jacksonville and I think he has more to offer

But you can't
have one trick ponies in the NFL though. At least not for what we need. Keep in mind Hayward is the younger player, and when he’s on his game and healthy he was nearly as good as Taylor was in his prime. Hayward still has that upside as a possibility. Taylor on the other hand played better last year than he will next year.
right on
Yeah I love him at DT in passing situations. If he put on 15 lbs he could possibly stay at the 3teq.

I wouldn't keep
him there. He doesn’t have that kind of leverage. He’s best a hybrid that still focuses mostly at DE.
I like
his bull rush. 15+ lbs of lower-body weight would make it more effective.I like him DE oriented too but think if he were to put it on he would be effective at 3.
