John Henderson is clearly on the trading block. The Jaguars will have a ridiculous amount of money tied up in their defensive line at the start of next season. Free agent Aaron Kampman, top-ten pick Derrick Harvey, top-ten pick Tyson Alualu, and John Henderson, make up a defensive line that will swallow up a large part of the Jaguars' finances. Make no mistake, the Jaguars don't want to pay a guy 5 million to fill a back-up role should he get beaten out.
Tyson is clearly being penciled into the starting role opposite Terrance Knighton; you don't take a player at the tenth overall spot who you don't expect to come in and compete immediately for a starting job. As such, let's examine the teams with the potential firepower to grab John Henderson. I think a pair of 4th round picks, or possibly even a 4th and a 5th round selection, would be enough for Gene to make the swap. Teams with multiple draft picks in those rounds are clearly the most likely prospects for places for John to land.
Philadelphia Eagles - The Eagles have four 4th round picks and two 5th round picks.
Seattle Seahawks - These birds have two 4th round picks and two 5th round picks.
Cincinnati Bengals - They have a pair of 4th rounders, but one is a compensatory pick. They have one 5th rounder.
St. Louis Rams - They have one 4th rounder and two 5th rounders.
Baltimore Ravens - They have one 4th rounder and two 5th rounders.
Oakland Raiders - They have one 4th rounder and two 5th rounders.
Any thoughts on the likelihood of one of these teams trading for "Big Hen"?
