Does EVERY GM dislike Gene? Is he blacklisted?
Think about this....The Jags were the most aggressive trade talkers leading up to the draft.....But no one will make a move with Gene....But at picks 11, 12 and 13, teams are fighting to trade into those spots......Same thing in the second round --- everybody knows the Jags want to trade aggressively, but no one will take Gene's call.......Same thing in the 3rd round.....THE ONLY TEAM that will trade or talk with Gene is the biggest outcast/disliked team in the NFL, the Raiders......Has Gene been blacklisted by the NFL after that Cleveland/waver incident? Does Gene pick obscure players to try to convince everyone he is a genius? Is his ego out of control?

no they seriously dont like Gene Smith, b/c if he fixes the Jags and guarantees they stay here…all the big markets work will be for nothing (getting a team into LA for the $$$$)
Waber-Jaguar
I hope you guys are right
Seeing that Jacksonville had the highest TV ratings for the draft, and a million people said WTF as we did EXACTLY what we said we were not going to do (reach for a player), I am very worried…..

Busts
The thing that worries me is that it seems like DT’s high in the first round have a bad track record compared to LB’s
Every year you look back on a draft
and say, man they should have drafted that guy earlier or we could have had THAT guy. What if Gene knows more about the guy and knows he will be great here, even if he should have been drafted 5 spots later? Who cares what talking heads think about where a guy should go? The ends justifies the means. Gene gets the right guys, I don’t care if he drafts them, signs them, steals them.
They should have drafted a quarterback at some point in this draft and did not. Send Garrard packing elsewhere. We don’t need this bum costing this team another season.
Yeah great idea....
Make sure and draft a QB even if you don’t think he’s any good. Because Garrard won’t win a championship. Especially with all the good QBs coming out next year. GREAT IDEA! Please go away now.
You know...
without Garrard’s fourth quarter come backs last year, we would have been either 4-12 or 5-11. Quarterbacks don’t play defense.
There's
3 problems w this team. 1 of them was addressed today the pass rush. The final two pieces are qb and the head coach and we are all just kidding ourselves if we don’t think otherwise. Dg and jdr might get us into the playoffs but nothing to make. Us win the big one

Whoa whoa slow down
Kiper, McShay and Mayock said he was a 2nd rounder therefore it doesn’t matter about the film, measurables or stats.

Fire Gene and hire any one of them
Because they CLEARLY know what the hell they are talking about. Forget the scouts who earn a living watching players. Lets hire part time frauds, who have no business being on tv.
You can't reason with unreasonable people
Notice how all the fired GMs end up on ESPN or NFLN
Like charlie casserly and michael lombardi or vinnie cerrato or matt millen. theres a reason that they arent real GMS
Not to defend the op but
The same scouts your defending ie…Gene Smith were here when we drafted Matt Jones, Reggie Williams, R.J. Soward, and Reggie Nelson. I like Alualu just not 4 straight picks that played d2 ball or lower.
I was actually impressed
Mayock seemed prepared for jaguars picks. im interested to see his grade for the jaguars
It wasnt the 10 pick that was cocky
Alualu is gonna be good, it was the rest of our picks that ALL came from d2 or below schools that I thought was a bit cocky…..I know he got cox and knighton last year but I think NFL network made a good point this year about Bill Polian of the Colts he never trades out of his pick and always takes guys from a major conference, I hope our guys are good but a KR from a d3 school was a bit of a stretch.
James Madison is divison 1
Every player the Jaguars drafted was division 1. 2 from the FBS and 4 from the FCS.
As for your point, I understand but we’ll just have to wait and see. For the record, the very few FCS prospects that have been drafted have been very successful in recent years.
