In the ESPN Insider, NFL Rumors section today...BCC was the "update":
On May 3, reports were coming in from Jacksonville Jaguars organized team activities that Luke McCown was looking better than incumbent starting QB David Garrard. While no one was insinuating that McCown would be taking Garrard's job, there was some thought that perhaps the competition was closer than some of us believed.
Then on May 17, we passed along word that Jags coach Jack Del Rio was much happier with how Garrard was performing and that there didn't seem to be much doubt that this was Garrard's offense again.
On Sunday, Alex Marvez of Fox Sports revealed the final piece of the puzzle: McCown has essentially conceded the QB battle. "It's David's job," McCown said Saturday on Sirius NFL Radio. "There's been a lot more made about it being a competition than there really should be. If anybody even hints to me about the idea of it being an open competition, I'm all for it. But that's not the case."
Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country concurred with McCown's self-aware appraisal, writing Tuesday that the QB's play has "tapered off" as the team has gone through OTAs, and it seems the competition is more or less over.
