Jags Strike Deal with Karim
The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms on a four-year, $1.9 million contract with fifth-round running back Deji Karim, according to a league source.
The deal includes a signing bonus of roughly $110,000. The maximum value of the deal can be boosted significantly if Karim triggers a fourth-year escalator clause. The former Southern Illinois start registered a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash and a 43-inch vertical leap at his Pro Day workout, which would rank him first among any running back invited to the NFL scouting combine.
Karim rushed for 1,694 yards and 18 touchdowns last season and was named Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
The 5-foot-9, 209-pounder is regarded as an explosive potential homerun threat..
