The decline of Maurice Jones-Drew
quick, everyone!!

I didn't. but that's just me.
maybe there's merit. maybe MJD really is in decline after the best year of his four-year career. maybe he won't catch or run or block anymore. maybe he'll just become a team cancer.
nah.

wow the football "scientist"
is making his “analysis” based off a one year sample size without taking ANY other variables into account other than size….offensive lines? teams loading the box every down? crappy passing game? there are TONS of other variables that would need to factor in here to make his argument somewhat coherent
The title got me

Have to agree.. WTF
I really wonder if some sports writers could even name more than 3 players on the Jaguars. Their comments are usually so far off base its ridiculous. Which begs to question what happened to editors.. it is ESPN after all I really hope if they want me to pay for that cr@p there should be at least a little oversight.
" In Gene We Trust "

Idiots are everywhere
so there’s no reason to be bothered by either of them.
All we need to do is sell the tickets and beat the Broncos.
I slammed him...
..had to. That wasn’t sports reporting. It was more like an Entertainment Tonight article.
I posted a reasonable response that disagreed with the article. My post got deleted.

wow, eternity is a loooooonng time
but why would I doubt the player evaluating capabilities
and the ability to predict the future
of one so esteemed
that he admits he had to look up whom the Jags drafted.
plus,
one really has to admire the courage
of basing those decisions
on jersey sales and posing in underwear
(not to mention that ever-so-important orlando sentinel readers poll).
sounds to me like he’s an expert,
… and you can take that to the EverBank.
(uncalled for ad hominem attack:
stupid-looking goatee,
and he probably stole “en fuego” from SportsCenter)
some of those fan comments were retarded.
Josh McDaniel is the reason Tom Brady is good???? (almost worth 5 question marks). 2 years from now, go into a Goodwill and count the Tebow jerseys on the rack.
There is but one way to end all this nonsense....
and that is to win. When MJD breaks a long run, or catches a pass and gets extra yards, we can all tell KC Joyner to go f-himself. And when the man no one can remember, Mr. Tyson Alualu, takes out a few QB’s this year, and is part of a leading NFL defense, we can say the same to George Diaz. The only team that Tim Tebow is going to haunt is Denver. They look about as sane as the Raisers. Sept. 12 is a big day! A day that will shock many in Jacksonville, and in Gainsville. They will find there star standing on the sidelines, with headphones and a clip board, and they will be shocked. His fans will spend the whole game, waiting for Tim to get in the game, much like the parent of a young child that does not get to play much on the middle school team. While this is going on, Tyson will be popping Orton or Quinn for another loss. Yes, Sept 12 will be a huge day for Jacksonville, but not for the reason many folks think!
Go Jags!
SEPT 12
is D-DAY…..
we shall fight on Jax beaches,
we shall fight near the Landing,
we shall fight at EverBank Field and in the tailgating parking lots,
we shall fight the second coming of Peyton Hills (cough Tebow cough);
we shall never surrender
JAGUARS FOOTBALL
I Guess I'm in the Minority Here
I think the article had some merit. I said after the Colts game that I thought MJD looked “tired”; he didn’t have the same burst, didn’t break through a couple tackles he probably would have earlier in the year, etc…
This is the “new” NFL; you need more than one back if you want to be a power running team, and apparently the Jags didn’t trust Jennings last year.
After the bye week (week 7) MJD averaged 23 touches per game. Take away the 9 touch Tennessee loss it jumps up to almost 26 touches a game. In fact he had 8 games with over 25 touches a game. Against St Louis he had 38 touches, and against the Chiefs he had 32.
I love MJD, I think he is an extremely good back, but I’d rather see him get the ball 15-20 times a game. I don’t want to see St Louis and KC beating up on him unnecessarily. That’s why I’m extremely interested to see who ends up being his primary backup, if Deji can be a solid third down back, if Jennings can be a short yardage guy, etc…
Ignore the hype; look at the results.

I agree
MJD clearly wore down by the end of the year. He averaged 5.1 yards a carry the first half of the season, but only averaged about 3.7 the second half. Bad o-line or not, the Jags didn’t have anybody to spell him last year, which I think is partially why the Jags lost their last 4 games. Hopefully Jennings or Karim can step up to take some of the load of MJD.
You can't reason with unreasonable people.
