Around SBN: Phil Mickelson Outshines Tiger Woods

Perhaps Alualu Watch is going to end quickly. Through the night the Redskins signed OT Trent Williams to a gaudy contract that includes $34 million in guarantees. However, more relevant for the Jaguars, the Eagles managed to sign #13 pick Brandon Graham and it appears the 49ers will announce the signing of #11 pick Anthony Davis today. If Davis is indeed signed, then the market should be all but set for Alualu to sign.

but last year

Actually looks like – Six years, $60 million ($36.75M guaranteed) – for Williams.

As crazy as that sounds, based on last year it’s not that bad. Same money with a little more guaranteed.

  1. pick – Aaron Curry LB Seattle Signed 6 years, $60 million ($34M guaranteed)

“4. pick – Aaron Curry”

Is Tyson

in town yet? Does anyone know if he is here already, waiting by, or is he still in Hawaii?

He bought Chris Naeole’s house and was moving in a few weeks ago, so I assume he is here.

Getting him in sooner than later....

is huge to me. I know others feel it is part of the game for 1st round guys to hold out. If it is, it is a bad part of the game. Others say it will not effect him. The more he can be a part of the team, the better he will be, and that is an effect. As I said before, both sides need to get realistic, and get this signing behind us!

Looks like #11 Just signed with SF

No terms out yet but if this doesn’t get it done this weekend….

Pick 11 Anthony Davis terms have just been released.

It’s a $26.5 million contract that includes $15.954 million guaranteed.McClain who was the 8th pick signed a 40 million dollar contract that guarantees 23 million. It’s a big gap in between, but I think Tyson will want 21 million guaranteed. The contract could be a 5-6 year deal worth 38-30 million with incentives.

Wow

that disparity in Guaranteed money could prolong things… especially with Buffalo in the 9 spot. Or I guess having BUF there could help us since his Agent will know they’re notoriously cheap and he would want to get something done before they come in with a lower number.

by pksiv on Jul 30, 2010 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Not sure about your math

but since there’s a #9 pick there I don’t see anywhere near $21M Guaranteed.

I’m thinking 5 years, $30M, $19M guaranteed.

by pksiv on Jul 30, 2010 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe

I guess they could offer him a deal halfway in between the 9th and 10th pick. That would be like 19.5 to 20 million guarenteed. The base deal might be the problem.I guess if he wants over 30 million the Jags could make it a six year deal.Remember Crabtree who was at the #10 spot gotta 6 year deal(not that it matters to us).The thing about Crabtree’s deal is the 6th year will be voided if he makes the pro-bowl within 4 years(I think). We could do the same with Tyson.

by J.James29 on Jul 30, 2010 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Another problem with using Crabtree's deal for anything

is he held out for a VERY long time.

Also, I don’t under this statement “halfway in between the 9th and 10th pick. That would be like 19.5 to 20 million guarenteed.”

Alualu is #10 and #9 isn’t signed. My point was you have to step down from 8 to a theoretical #9 and 10 should be somewhere between that and #11.

So with 8 having $23M guaranteed and #11 having 16 million, you don’t split the difference, you step down for #9 which would be somewhere around $20-21M and then split that and $16M.

Jason La Canfora just said on NFL Network he hears........

Alualu and the Jags are “not particularly close” on agreeing to contract terms.
