Viator Predicts: 53 Jags for 2010

The preseason is nearly behind us. This team has been evaluated from top to bottom throughout training camp. Position battles have been waged, individuals weighed, and a team tested. At this point jobs have been won or lost, it's just down to the deed. It's time to cut the fat from the meat.

Gene Smith will have the grisly task of breaking hearts and shattering dreams in the days ahead. Who will rise up, who will be sent away? 53 men will don the teal, 27 will fall to the turk. Here is my guess at which of these men will be called Jaguars...

Offence: 22

QB - Garrard, McCown

WR - Sims-Walker, Thomas, Dillard, Underwood, Matthews

TE - Lewis, Wilford, Miller

RB - Jones-Drew, Jennings

FB - Jones, Bolen

C  - Meester

OG - Nwaneri, Manuwai, Forney

OT - Monroe, Britton, Black, Haslam

Defense: 23

S  - Smith, Nelson, Alexander, Considine

CB - Mathis, Cox, Starks, Brackenridge, Carey

LB - Morrison, Smith, Durant, Allen, Wilson, Cutrera

DT - Knighton, Alualu, Douzable, Ellison

DE - Kampman, Harvey, Lane, Hart

Special Teams: 8

K  - Scobee

P  - Podlesh

LS - Cain

KR - Karim

PR - Mcgee

ST - Osgood, Owens, Greene

Predictions based on current roster. Suggestions for trades and waiver acquisitions could be considered for future speculation. Practice squad nominations will also be considered. Mistakes will be stricken from the record.

that actually is a very nice and resonable final 53……..i think we might get some odd surprise cut again like last year

Long time no see, Viator!

I agree with almost everything, except I would take Coe over Carey.

You can't reason with unreasonable people.

Hey, hey!

Maybe waivers will reveal a decent DB for our ranks. I’d say the group could certainly stand to see some improvement.

Some would be an understatement

I don’t see the Jags getting anybody decent through waivers, they would probably have to trade for somebody.

+1

Coe has outplayed Carey, in my opinion.

On Carey

He has played sloppy, and made several rookie mistakes. Coe could beat him out. I still believe Carey has shown flashes that provide a hint at his potential in the future. Remember, he spent last year on IR, this is essential his rookie debut. Coe may be just another guy, this is third year in. I hope the Jags keep the best man as per their evaluation. I could care less which name is stitched across the jersey, so long as he makes some plays.

Coe has

a INT and a couple PBU’s doesn’t he?

Ok...

I disagree with a few of these picks.

Offense:
(Wide Receiver) Although Matthews has done really well in the preseason, I don’t think he’s done enough to boot Williamson from the roster. So in my opinion, Troy stays.

(Guard) I think Vinny is done with the Jaguars. He got pushed around pretty badly last night.

Defense:
(Safety) – My guess is that Nelson is done! The Jags will look at the waiver wire and bring someone in to fill this position.

(Cornerback) – Don Carey? Seriously? Only if Gene doesn’t have a brain in his head this guy makes the team.

The rest of your picks I agree with.

Oh, definitely

All those guys will be cut. My mistake. I hate their faces.

No Justin Smiley?

I haven’t heard much about him so far. Is his shoulder toast?

Ignore the hype; look at the results.
