Ask The Falcoholic!
This should be a good one.
I've long watched the Jaguars develop. When I was a little kid, it was hard not to get excited about an expansion team, and the Carolina Panthers certainly weren't going to make my short list, being in the same division as the Falcons. You have traditionally had a fun team to watch, and now I'll get the opportunity to do so in a game that has real world consequences for a lot of players on the bubble.
To prepare for this one, I figured I'd pop over and answer your questions. Want to know the final roster for the Falcons? Curious to see how Michael Turner will rebound in 2010? Unsure of exactly what a Kroy Biermann is? Ask away! I'll be here all week.
If you could Recommend this FanPost so it remains up at the top for those asking questions, I'd be grateful.

We're all happy with him
He’s a good, hard-nosed coach. If he had better coordinators around him, he might be truly exceptional, but we’ll certainly settle for a guy who motivates and puts the team in a position to succeed.

Mike Smith
Us Jaguars fans really fail to mention/remember sometimes the significance of Mike Smith leaving our Defense…the Mike Smith Defense Era was great. He also really turned that franchise around, with a new way of doing business.

How has Dunta been playing? Good or great acquisition? Or maybe even bad?

We haven't seen him play at all
Not a pre-season game to his name just yet. As long as he’s healthy for the season, all is well.

Yeah, nagging things in training camp
They’re being EXTREMELY careful with him. Can’t say I blame the team.

Biggest weakness and strength
Weakest is still the secondary. They’re getting better all the time, but I don’t know if there’s a Falcons fan on the planet who believes they’ll be a top unit. Our offense and all its firepower should and probably will be our greatest strength.
Brian Williams was maybe average before he went down with an injury. He’s not distinguishing himself this pre-season, and may be on the roster bubble. Mike Peterson was pretty putrid as a starting linebacker last season, but he appears to have his starting job all but locked up again in 2010. Go figure.
At the moment, everyone really important looks to be healthy. We’re watching Dunta Robinson’s lingering injury issues closely.

I was a big fan of
the back out of Arizona State, Dimitri Nance. I’m assuming he is doing well. After I found out you guys got him as an UDFA, I thought, poor man’s Michael Turner with hands. How have you all liked him so far?
We like him
He’s a practice squad candidate. His problem is that Antone Smith, an UDFA last year, is playing even better than him this pre-season, and the Falcons will only carry at most four backs.

Man
I thought Antone Smith was out of the league. Good to see him on a team and doing well, I liked him coming out of Fla. State.

Me too
I thought he was one of only a few decent players for FSU a few years ago.
You can't reason with unreasonable people.
Its make or break...
were a playoff team, its on him to take us to the next level, have us prepared and fired up every sunday to go out and play jaguars football. I feel like we will be serious contenders in 2 years after our DB draft next year, and we add on at the WR position. So if he cant get the job done he’s gone. I would live to grab Cowher, maybe he will choose Florida Sunshine this time after over a decade in miserable Pittsburgh.

Quick rundown
Sean Weatherspoon looks good, if not great. He’s adjusted to the speed of the pro game very well, but he’s taking some atrocious angles in pre-season games so far. I still think he’s the opening day starter at one of our outside linebacker spots.
Corey Peters looks like a future piece of the defensive tackle rotation. He’s kind of a poor man’s Jon Babineaux, a guy who can rush the passer and still play well against the run. Probably a year away from really making a difference.
Mike Johnson and Joe Hawley are our future left guard and center starters. This season, they’ll be depth.
Dominique Franks is a promising young cornerback who is struggling on special teams. He’s on the bubble.
Kerry Meier flashed a lot in pre-season, but the young receiver is now on IR. Damnit.
Shann Schillinger’s an interesting case. Here’s the Falcons’ final pick of the draft, but he’s a guy who probably has locked up a roster spot. He’s got some ball skills, he hits extremely hard and he’s already a force on special teams. He could be a good one someday.

I got someone
lets see… Thinking….Somewhat like Brian Robiskie or Brian Hartline. Great hands, fairly big, and knows how to find the soft spots in zones.
Definitely our own Brian Finneran
He might be a little faster than Finn in his prime, but they’re both big guys with good hands and surprising agility.
