Jaguars place Scotty McGee on IR

Photo

The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed rookie kick returner Scotty McGee on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, the team announced.

To replace him on the roster, the Jaguars have re-signed rookie linebacker Jacob Cutrera.

The team also announced that they have signed wide receiver Lance Long to the practice squad. Long previously had stints with the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.

I was wondering if

one of these 2 guys would eventually be stored for next year.

Hopefully this means Deji Karim is close to returning.

DG is the best we have and help is not on the way. I realize he's not perfect, but I feel a lot better about him at QB than I do the O-Line, DB's, or LB's ability to cover a TE.

Too bad. Didn’t McGee field another punt against ATL after the injury?

I don't think so

I think Underwood took over all of the duties after the injury.

Development of the Draft Class

It will definitely stunt the growth of this draft class. Next year will now be those two guys’ first season playing in the NFL. Look at the difference a year makes with Monroe and Britton.

Monroe and Britton...

are excellent examples of the progress players can make in a year. Both McGee and D’Anthony needed the playing time they were going to get. Unfortunately, this is going to set the Jags back at the beginning of next year too, as they both get their legs back under them.

Playing time is big

but I think even more important for DA Smith is getting bigger and stronger.

I think they were trying to make room for Cutrera

Looks like Durant wont play Sunday………

I agree

You can’t have a linebacker with a bad wheel trying to play D against Vick. Allen will have his hands full chasing Vick down as I think he will be our fastest starting LB.

Gotta

play error free and we have to have speed on D. We’ll probably see a lot of nickel on our D on Sunday.

Its sad, McGee is an excellent returner. Now I want to know why they didn’t release the severity? Oh and damn preseason has killed more Jag seasons than anything else

They may not

have known how bad it was, or they might have put him on IR sooner. Second, there was no benefit to telling everyone how injured he was.
Regardless, it’s sad to see him lost for the season. Luckily, with it being a shoulder, he should recover completely for next year.
