Jaguars plan to re-sign Gerald Alexander today
Per Adam Schefter, the Jaguars plan to re-sign safety Gerald Alexander today.
So, why'd they release him in the first place?
Just sayin'.
Tight end Ernest Wilford was released to make room on the roster. The team also dropped quarterback Brett Ratliff from the practice squad.

Anthony Smith?!?
Could that mean Anthony Smith gets put on IR? (Hopefully not)
I bet Middleton goes
He’s not very good in coverage at all and the only thing that was saving his spot was special teams play. But I noticed against the Eagles that Don Carey was playing as one of the gunners. If Carey is playing better on special teams than Middleton then he’s as good as gone.

He was last year
But I haven’t seen it this year

Somebodys Gotta Go
Alexander plays SS. That means either A.Smith is getting put on IR, or either Courtney Green or Sean Considine is getting cut. And Green has been theonly positive in the secondary thus far.
thankfully
he may make mistakes but he is physically capable of playing the position. considine isn’t able. he’s simply not fast enough. it’s so frustrating to see him running to the ball and just unable to make it in time.
My problem with him at this point is 3 fold......
1. I get an instant case of the ass for guys that hold out when they are in a contract, and not just on the Jags. Reavis help out, not in good enough shape, and now is injured. Be a man, honor your contract, and play the damn game.
2. Rasheen got beat bad on the pass down the Eagles sidelines early in the game, and I expect more out of him. I was disappointed, but those things happen.
3. In my opinion, he just gave up or turned in a poor effort on the touchdown to end the half.
And as a veteran leader, I am just not impressed at this point, and am probably lashing out. Oh yeah, almost forgot, hate the hair!
Probably nothing......
Its not my style, and he really let me down yesterday, and so I guess I am lashing out at him.
Alfie, don’t ask. Dude can’t even spell Rashean’s name right.

Sorry Fivus....
I will try to be more careful next time. Its nice to have met someone who has never made a mistake here. Congrats!
What about Polamalu's hair?
I bet that looks great! The audacity of a player with inferior skills, to have long hair. LOL if Rashean played better they’d be selling dread lock wigs at Jags games and you’d be wearing one.
Coach Crennel, if all of your Coors Lights can talk what happens when you open your fridge? There's generally "Hoopla" involved.
His hair is worth a million bucks havnt you read.....
and it dosnt seem to interfere with his playing…lol
WE ARE JAGUARS.......FEAR OUR ROAR!!!!!!
Have you been using my head and shoulders?
Haven’t you?

I would not.....
but I agree it would be a big seller. Guess I am just an old guy that remembers rules that did not allow that back in the day. You are also correct it would not even be on my mind if he was playing better. As I said before, just lashing out. I am a bit confused as to why a player would want to give anything else that could be grabbed onto, but again, just lashing out.
I hear ya man
Blowouts will do that to a person. It’s understandable.

Here's to getting back on tract next week....
and if Rashean makes an interception, I may even go get myself a wig!
There ya go
I knew you’d come around, lol!

Yeah,
Not really understanding why they’d release Alexander and then bring him back if he wasn’t one of the best of the bunch. Seems kind of foolish to me.
You mean the guy that is so good
that 31 other teams didn’t seem to think he was worth signing this past month either ?
I agree, he’ll probably help our pathetic secondary, but it’s not like he’ll be a noticeable improvement.
DG is the best we have and help is not on the way. I realize he's not perfect, but I feel a lot better about him at QB than I do the O-Line, DB's, or LB's ability to cover a TE.
Boo
I can’t find anyone else that I would get rid of first though…

Am I....
… the only one who thought our secondary without Alexander and Nelson has loooked considerably worse than our secondary WITH them?
Not only that
Our secondary looked better with Alexander and Nelson with zero pass-rush than the current secondary with a pass-rush.

KEN HAMLIN?
wasn’t he cut by the Ravens? Was a Pro-bowler a few years ago for the Cowboys… Is he not an upgrade from who we have…? Or is he done in the league?
Hamlin is terrible. The Cowboys cut him despite having mediocre safeties. The Ravens cut him even though he is a vested veteran and Ed Reed is out. So the Ravens are paying him to be at home.

and in other news…….Gene Smith traded a seventh round pick to the Bengals to get back Reggie Nelson and then traded Reggie Nelson to the Jets for Mark Brunell, then proceeded to cut the entire secondary all over again, then resigned them 15 minutes later, and tried to cut Kennard Cox, later to discover he is not in fact a Jaguar. Keith Null, Todd Bouman and Brett Ratliff were all let go after someone finally realized that in fact they all play exactly like David Garrard, and having one saves money. He tried to hire Tony Boselli as a new offensive line coach and make Jack Del Rio suit up as a linebacker and then fired Dirk Koetter and then picked Ernest Wilford up, just so he could cut him next week. After four hours of this, he decided to stop drinking, fired the whole coaching staff and walked off, down Main Street, presumably back to Ohio, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

/sarc……………..however wouldn’t it have been cool to have Mark Brunell as the backup right now?
Waber-Jaguar
HAHAHA.....
God that sad, but hillarious……stop please stop now…lol
WE ARE JAGUARS.......FEAR OUR ROAR!!!!!!
It doesn't matter who we sign.
The mountain the Jaguars must climb will remain very tall. Hopefully our guys just start playing better and make the most out of this season. And fan support should be just that, support. David’s amazing decline wasn’t so predictable, especially not after beating the Broncos. Let’s just hope for a rebound and have fun while analyzing the steps necessary for it to take place.
The Teal and Black are comin' back!
Help is not on the way.

I'm glad Wilford is gone.
With so much else wrong with this roster, there’s no room for luxury items like a 4th TE/slow receiver/whatever role it is that he’s doing so well right now (none).
In Gene We Trust.

this move certainly ccannot hurt
I mean now instead of an “F” caliber secondary has improved to “D-”

JasonLaCanfora Eric Alexander’s deal with the Jags is for two years. Fair amount of roster juggling going on there after a rough start.
Gerald will play FS
Because Consindine is fast enough to play Cover 2 High…he has the smarts but not the speed…the eagles were 3-18…PI Considine…60+ plus bomb to Maclin because Considine couldn’t get to the spot in time…basically the same play the Broncos ran when Cox was out there…it looked like Cox was beat, but it was Considine who was a second or 2 slow…

Reggie Nelson.....
Put Reggie Nelson at the corner…..Rashean at free….. Alexander at Strong safety……….. It would be a better Secondary
