What about Aaron Schobel?

Stay connected for news and updates

I just read that the Houston Texans attempted to sign him but couldn't come to terms on an agreement. Should the Jags look into purusing him also? He seems to fit the mold GM Gene follows when signing free agents. He has had a solid career and would be a much better option at a much more reasonable price than Derrick Harvey at this point. I know the Jags are in the middle of a youth movement, but signing Schobel would eliminate the only weak link on the defensive line, that being Harvey. Having two veteran pass rushers and two young defensive tackles sounds like a nice balance to have as the young pass rushers develop. I know it wouldn't help the secondary any, but what can besides finding players in the draft or free agency next year? That would instantly put Harvey on the trading block, but after his play in the last three games, that doesn't sound so bad. Even though that would solidify the Jags 2008 draft as one of the worse in the league in recent memory. But it's something I could live with if that means making the team better and, as I said, Schobel would be a better option than Harvey. What do you think?
