Around SBN: 2012 NBA All-Star Game Starters Announced

Updated: Jacksonville Jaguar Scouting Locations Week 1

College football starts up this week and that means the Jaguars scouts are busy heading to games and trying to find the next round of players to be in the Teal and Black. Chris Steuber of Scout.com is reporting the Jaguars sent scouts to the Southern Miss/South Carolina and Pittsburgh/Utah games last night. In addition, they'll have scouts at  Villanova/Temple and Arizona/Toldeo games tonight, and the Kent State/Murray State Saturday. Who are some of the players worth watching? After the jump we'll look.

Edit: Steuber has also reported the Jaguars will be present at the Western Michigan/Michigan St game Saturday.

A * indicates the prospect is a junior, players in italics are players I believe the Jaguars would be the most interested in, and a player that's slashed out either didn't play or isn't expected to play.

The player to watch, IMO, will be Arizona QB Nick Foles. Foles doesn't get a lot of talk because he's in the same conference as Jake Locker and Andrew Luck, but he's entering 2010 as a legit 2nd/3rd round option at QB. He has consistency issues to work out, and how he deals with them will most likely determine if he skips his senior season or not.

Wildcat C Colin Baxter is one of the top centers in college football and will be an early pick next April. He is certainly a possibility to succeed Brad Meester.

Greg Romeus

Romeus had an awful night last night. He got shut down by a tackle straight out of JuCo.

I liked Greg

2 years ago before he was considered an NFL talent. Personally I only saw a 3rd rounder at best. He’s got a motor and measurables, but I don’t see much else.

Great job, i will be definitely taking a look at some of these prospects. i love college football and it’s atmosphere, thinking about who will end up being a great nfl player. I hope they take a good look at my boy John Clay from Wisconsin, this kid is really good, he just needs to stay healthy.

Saturday will be fun to watch, i will have a hard time deciding what games i will be taking a look.

I know MTD only has Ijalana for Villanova

But I think their WR Matt Szczur is worth looking at.

I like Szczur as well but I think he might end up playing baseball full time.

I'm a big fan of

Nick Foles too. Had you not pointed him out, I would have eventually. In fact there are a LOT of up and coming QB’s coming out of the PAC-10 these next couple of years. Though I’m not a big fan of Locker as a prospect, yet.

very nice pass by Foles to the back of the end zone

Nice touch on the ball, let’s see if it translates to the NFL.

What were you watching

was there a game you’re watching or just some highlights?

by Ewdtrey on Sep 4, 2010 1:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Saw the qb on the front

and immediately thought Steve Taneyhill.

Foles is looking good so far, very accurate…but Toledo defense is very weak.

Ponder – Round 1
Hudson – Round 2

by Fivus Viener on Sep 4, 2010 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldn't

Be opposed to Nick Foles in the third or so. He has some development to go through, but he is a good prospect. Accurate and has a pretty good arm. I did think his arm was that great until: Watch pass at 4:00

Also

Anyone who knows a lot about Arizona, what age are those two wideouts? William Wright and Dean. Both had some pretty nice plays in there. Wright looks like a pretty legit little speed receiver.

Dean is too

erratic to be counted on in the NFL.
Not sure about Wright.

Hope

They are giving Jonathan Baldwin a look.

Foles had a good game last night, he’s accurate…don’t know about his arm strenght though.
Now i will try to watch my badgers and also watch fsu game, september comes and i go insane. Go Ponder…our future QB!
