Hopefully Kackert will end up on the practice squad

I kind of feel like they were hiding him in the preseason. Every time I saw him in practice he was killin’ it.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

I don't know about this guy

I hear he flashed in camp, but I wasn’t out there every day. In the games he lacks wiggle and burst.

Maybe they can develop more from him, as it seems like he has decent hands, but again… you can’t teach speed and I don’t think he has it.

WTF IS THE INTERNET?!?

Disagree

In the games he showed wiggle, and outstanding balance.

I was just going to say this.

I mean I am reeally going in the dark since I live in NY and could not really watch any of the games. But from my understanding, this guy can be legit in a couple of years. As for the other cuts so far, nothing too terrible. I mean I guess I was hoping Lehman with his past NFL exp. could have been a contributor but I guess it sayas something about the young LBs such as Cutrera .

I really like his potential. His balance in the best I have ever seen out of an UDFA running back.

Bowen was good

I thought

he was gonna make the 53. Though I wouldn’t be very quick to say he outperformed Gilbert.

What's up with this ?

“The Jaguars will also release RB Kolby Smith tomorrow.”

DG is the best we have and help is not on the way. I realize he's not perfect, but I feel a lot better about him at QB than I do the O-Line, DB's and LB's ability to cover a TE.

by pksiv on Sep 3, 2010 2:51 PM EDT reply actions

It's pretty much

a given. To be fair, none of these players are officially cut according to the Jaguars website. So take it for what it’s worth.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 3, 2010 2:58 PM EDT up reply actions

I get that but if Alfie knows it

hopefully he’s already been told along with the rest of the guys.

So seems strange that 5 people are gone today and this guy is gone tomorrow, along with at least 16 other yet to be named players.

We only know about 5,

because in all likelihood, only those players’ agents were available to talk to.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 3, 2010 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions

well, in all honesty

he was nothing more than a live body while MJD and Karim were shelved. I think that was a given. Now, had he set the world on fire while here, that’s one thing, but he was brought in for practice.

what exactly are you impying?

by OneSweetWorld on Sep 3, 2010 3:09 PM EDT up reply actions

That one

report is about as accurate as the other. Not that either is wrong. I usually trust both sources.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 3, 2010 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not questioning either report

it was just funny/strange.

I mean, if Alfie knows and Kolby Smith doesn’t, that’s bad for the organization. If Kolby Smith knows, than why is it tomorrow ? If he knows he knows now.

Gotta wait

for it to be official. Chances are none of the other cuts are official either.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 3, 2010 3:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Kolby Smith knows

I just finished a book about life in an NFL training camp/preseason (A Few Seconds of Panic), and the author wrote about how even though there are no “official” statements yet to the press, the players are called in and told ASAP. Observers can see who’s cut by who leaves with bags full of cleaned out locker stuff. Some of the players avoid the “Turk” by turning off cell phones, avoiding the weight room, etc., but they will be found, and once they are we will hear their names too – before Jaguars.com says anything about it “officially”.

I kind of felt....

and maybe it was just a timing coincidence that Smith was brought in to cover the duties Deji had during practice until he was healed (i.e. the start of the season). I bet Smith knew this all along.

by GAJAGFAN on Sep 3, 2010 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions

He was there

for depth basically. But I’m sure they also wanted a quick look too.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 3, 2010 3:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I thought Rod Wilson was going to make it. Yesterday he was looking good again, had a nice tackle for loss. I would rather keep him and release Tony Gilbert, but that’s just me. Cutrera definitely made it.

by Hellveto on Sep 3, 2010 3:20 PM EDT reply actions

I think it may have to do with

the lack of depth at MLB. Allen is more of an OLB. Gilbert is a big boy that will help stop the run better than Rod. Also, and I think this is huge for a JDR LBer, Rod struggled to get off blocks. When people start to gameplan their running game more, getting off blocks become more important.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 3, 2010 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I get the feeling that the Jags are going to bring in another veteran linebacker that gets released this weekend. They have zero depth after Russell Allen right now.

I am glad to see......

that Brock Bolen made it through round one. I hope he gets a spot. I think that guy has a big upside.

by GAJAGFAN on Sep 3, 2010 3:42 PM EDT reply actions

I doubt he has

big upside. But I think he can be a good player.

by Ewdtrey on Sep 3, 2010 3:47 PM EDT up reply actions

You may be right......

I guess what I crave is to see him in a real game situation against the best the other team has to offer….should prove interesting.

by GAJAGFAN on Sep 3, 2010 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions

hate to say it, but I agree with Prisco

Only way Bolen makes the final 53 is if the Jags go to Greg Jones and ask him to take a pay cut and he refuses.

He’s the type of guy who is built for the practice squad then work his way up.

If the UFL truly does become a feeder system for the NFL, this guy will be a secret no longer. Seems like the preseason always produces these cult heroes. Great to see but inevitably, the reach is beyond the grasp.

by Joe Fisher on Sep 3, 2010 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Definitely want to see Bolen make the 53

and I would like to see what Zach Potter brings to the Jaguars if he makes it. That guy looks like he could be interesting at TE.

by JPQ! on Sep 3, 2010 5:00 PM EDT reply actions

Caussin will be cut for sure

The wife and I were at Sake House downtown before the Miami game and Trevor Harris was in there with him. Caussin was talking about how “Coach” said he wasn’t taking things seriously. Harris said to play hard in the game because the first round of cuts were coming. I can’t imagine he gets past this round though. We’re stacked at TE. Harris should get on PS at least.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!
