2010 NFL Waiver Wire: Jaguars claim DT Landon Cohen
According to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, the Jaguars have claimed defensive tackle Landon Cohen off waivers.
Cohen played college football at the University of Ohio and was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2008 in the 7th round.
No word yet on who the Jaguars will release to make room on their roster.

I looked up Landon Cohen and one interesting thing is he did 50 reps at 225lb. I think the record is 51 so he has strength. He’s also put on 29lb since starting in the league from 274lb to 303lb so gradually getting bigger and stronger and as a third year he may be breaking out. No shame getting someone who fell out for the overall 2nd draft pick so fingers crossed he’s a keeper.
What could of happened; did.
Thanks Ewdtrey: How come you know so much about the Lions?
Yeah, apparently it was his 23rd birthday and he decided to do bench presses to celebrate.
As you do. Made it to 50 and stopped. I don’t know if he knew 51 was the record. I doubt it.
I read his draft report and it said he flashed starter ability and strength. I have high – possibly unrealistic – hopes he could be a slow burner hitting his prime. They say third year is when you’re comfortable particularly in the strength positions of the line.

if u click on his name on the right side ther is a scouting report

I never thought
he would get cut. He’s definitely better than anything we cut. He’s a good player. I guess I underestimated the depth the Lions had. Bottom line is, he’s a good strong player with a motor. We’re gonna like him here.
hmmmmm
IM not sure….it remains to be seen, Well see hope hes does good though sure could use all the help we can get.
Mess With the Best Die like the Rest
I read a little on the Lions board
and it seems the concensus is that he was their biggest “shocker”. They said he played great all preseason.
1, will probably be Knighton’s back up

In his scouting profile...
his career potential is stated as “Decent rotation lineman with starter tools”. Which if you think about it, is exactly what we need right now. It sounds like the same career potential DT D’Anthony Smith would be labeled with. If Cohen’s potential has been acurately assessed, then this could be huge for the Jags. I’ll defitnately be keeping an eye on him next week vs. Denver.
im a lions fan
my NFC team.
hes decent, im actually suprised he got cut. probably would be a good rotational guy.
Another Lions fan here, and yes Landon is not great but he is a solid DT.
I thought he would make the team due to his fine preseason play, but the DT he was in a battle with [Andre Fluellen former FSU lineman] is a little more versatile, playing at DE too as well as special teams.
I wish we could have kept him but had to make room for Suh and Corey Williams.
Yes. A lot of discussion on the Lions site regarding the roster.
Frankly, it was never very exciting before due to the terrible depth the Lions used to have. With Mayhew and Schwartz, we are really seeing the overhaul of the Lions moving forward. A lot of young guys with potential are getting a shot, and there has also been an emphasis on special teams as that has long been a weakness here.
This still may be a tough year due to the schedule and the unpredictability of all these young players being thrown together, but I am more optimistic than I have been in a long time. We are on the right path and will surprise a lot of people this year.
I still check this site every day, I have just not been moved to comment very much.
I would not touch the guy with a ten foot pole. Not even as a back up.
I was advocating that the Lions should drop our third string QB and only go with two. Unless you have a young guy that you want to develop and are afraid he will get taken if you put him on the Practice Squad, that’s all the #3 QB should be.
I thought I heard he was signing with Texas?
Sounds very similar to the overhaul of the Jaguars
