Jaguars All-Time 53 Man Roster
Jaguars.com did a poll awhile back for the all-time starting roster, so i decided to take it a step further and come up with a complete 53 man roster. I used longevity/service in Jacksonville and talent as primary factors, so guys that wore teal longer got the nod over one year stars (e.g. Aaron Kampman). Check it out.
Format is a depth chart, starters in italics.
Offense:
Quarterbacks
Mark Brunell
David Garrard
Byron Leftwich
Running Backs
Fred Taylor
Maurice Jones-Drew (Kick Returner)
James Stewart
Fullbacks
Greg Jones
Montell Owens
Wide Recievers
Jimmy Smith
Keenan McCardell
Mike Sims-Walker
Mike Thomas (Punt Returner)
Reggie Williams
Tight Ends
Kyle Brady
Marcedes Lewis
Pete Mitchell
Tackles
Tony Boselli (LT)
Leon Searcy (RT)
Eugene Monroe
Khalif Barnes
Guards
Vince Manuwai (LG)
Chris Naeole (RG)
Maurice Williams (G/T)
Centers
Brad Meester
Uche Nwaneri (G/C)
Defense:
Defensive Tackles
Marcus Stroud
John Henderson
Terrance Knighton
Tyson Alualu
Gary Walker
Defensive Ends
Tony Brackens
Paul Spicer
Rob Meier (DE/DT)
Joel Smeenge
Renaldo Wynn
Linebackers
Daryl Smith (WOLB)
Mike Peterson (MLB)
Kevin Hardy (SOLB)
Justin Durant
Akin Ayodele
Bryan Schwartz
Cornerbacks
Rashean Mathis
Aaron Beasley
Fernando Bryant
Derek Cox
Dave Thomas
Safeties
Donovan Darius (SS)
Deon Grant (FS)
Chris Hudson
Travis Davis
Special Teams:
Kicker
Mike Hollis
Punter
Bryan Barker
Long Snapper
Joe Zelenka
Coaches/Front Office
Owner: Wayne Weaver
GM: Gene Smith
Head Coach: Tom Coughlin
Off. Coord.: Dirk Koetter
Def. Coord.: Mike Smith
I am extrapolating a bit with Alualu, but hey, im an optimist. I'd really like to have Reggie Barlow, but I can't justify having a pure returner on the team when you have both Drew and Thomas in secondary roles and available to return. I put Brady over Lewis because of his 8 years of service to Lewis's five, but it's really close. My captains would be Brunell and Boselli on offense, Brackens and Peterson on defense, and Owens and Darius on special teams.

It's hard to come up w/a solid all time team after only 15 years
Especially when you a had a good five year run where all your first round picks are busts. The starters are quality, but our depth is lacking.
I have no idea who Dave Thomas or Travis Davis are.
Instead I’d put in Kiwaukee Thomas and Harry Colon. I also like Damon (the sofa) Jones over Pete Mitchell. I think Damon Shelton was a better FB than Owens (even though Owens was added for his special teams play).
Good list though.
No way,,,I loved pete mitchell…Guy made a ton of clutch catches.

WTF is your problem?
You seem to insult someone in almost every post. End the sentence with “set” and you’re fine, but for some reason you had to insult the author for absolutely no reason. I don’t understand why you can’t just post like a respectful adult.

How do you think the Jaguars all-time team compares with other all-time teams?
Why isn’t “Meh” a choice? Don’t get me wrong, but the Jags don’t have the number of years to have enough talent to field an “all-time” great team.
Consider the young guys you have on your all-time Jags team. They may turn into good players, but do you think they’d stand up against the “old” franchises? I like Mike Thomas, but he’s not Wes Welker yet (would be around 4th on the Patriots all-time team).
Ignore the hype; look at the results.
I don't know about
putting Rob Meir in as the number three DE, he only started for us for one year and that was at DT. Joel Smeenge should be number two, he is second behind Brackens on the Jaguars All time sack leaders list.
My list for DE would be
1. Tony Brackens
2. Joel Smeenge
3. Paul Spicer
4 Reggie Hayward
5. Bobby McCray
Shake and Bake
How many Games has Uche ever played at Center?
I think Number two should be Rich Tylski, he was our starting center for 4 years before we drafted Meester.

thanks
yeah the poll was meant as a joke… sorry.
ive heard uche is being cross-trained as a center but i dont think hes ever actually played it. pfr says tylski was purely a guard.
meier was a pretty good rotation/spot starter guy for a long time so i think he deserves to be here. youre right smeenge should be above him though.
montell is there for special teams, but if you wanted to take out a lineman (barnes/walker) for shelton that would work. edwards didnt really play long enough.
dave thomas and travis davis were mid 90s guys that started for a few years. colon only played one year and i think kiwanukee was mostly a special teamer. i loved pete mitchell and he didnt have great size but he does have 4x the receiving yards of jones.
Take Leftwich off the list. He would not be on the Final 53
Add Matt Jones – JK
Natron Means or someone
As long as I'm talking
potential and ability, I would also add Dillard and put Durant as a starter on the weak side with Smith starting at SLB. Durant is a very good player, when healthy.
No love for Jeff Lageman at the DE position?
