Cullen interviewing with Oakland???
According to this article, Joe Cullen is interviewing for the Defensive Coordinator job in Oakland. This would be a huge blow to the defense considering the job he has done to the defensive line.

good for him
Bad for us, but the dude has worked his way back from his self created purgatory.
Like I said before, the word is out on the Jaguars. Perhaps JDR was 100% correct when he said he and the coaches got the absolute most out of this group. Really, on paper, our roster was a 4-12 or 5-11 team, especially with the injuries.
I’ll probably get crap for saying this, but consider the job he has done on the defensive line.
No one the Jaguars had on their roster got any better rushing the passer from the previous season. The majority of the players that got the most reps on the defensive line were knew. The Jaguars still stunk rushing the passer and only looked better in comparison to last season.
I do think he’s a good coach, but I think his impact has been vastly over hyped.

making me think here
The line was literally chicken bleep and he made some semblance of chicken salad with it.
The only constant on the line was Knighton. 2 rookies stepped up late, Mincey developed nicely, Kampman was on his way to a 10 sack season til the ACL got him, in my view, the only failure of Cullen was that he could not light a fire under Harvey.
u better say chicken bleep...
Thats right…I can see Lane starting next year too, another full-off season under Cullen, and he may blow up.

a first suspension...and being a minor....putting it out there....
u should lighten up a bit.

You’ve been warned and had comments deleted multiple times in the past. Being a minor has nothing to do with anything.
I have always thought...
mining was such a dangerous job. Maybe it does deserve some additional consideration? Think of the canary!
I try not to curse on this site
it’s fantasy land. Plus it adds nothing to the conversation. My advice, for what it’s worth, take a week off. You offer a lot here, but too much of a thing is not always a good thing and sometimes you’re prone to sophomoric rants. It happens. Once you venture close to the land of trolldom it’s hard to come back.
That’s my point. Kampman was a 10 sack guy on Green Bay. Wasn’t anything Cullen did. Alualu, Douzable, Lane, Hart, Morgan, and Mincey (Mincey was constantly injured) were all new to the team in 2010 and not on the team in 2009. The only returning players from 2009 were Knighton and Harvey. Harvey didn’t progress at all and got benched.
i see what your saying...
…but knighton got reasonably better, whether it was cullen or not.

so.... he developed all of those guys into serviceable young players with upside
not getting it here. It’s really the equivalent of implementing a new defense with all of the new faces on the line, heck, all of the new faces on the defense in general! This is the d line that should have had 16 sacks again just by looking at the roster.
I would like to think we’ll see dramatic improvement next year with his tutelage.
We really won’t know until Cullen has another season or two, but the defensive line was still terrible. It wasn’t as terrible as last year, but that’s like saying at least this hurricane wasn’t Katrina.
It’s hard to credit a coach for improved defensive line play in his first season when 8 of the 10 defensive lineman were also in their first season with the team.
I see your point here.
in effect this year was a benchmark year, nothing more. Coming in was a zero point. Personally, I think he’s paid his dues, but I think a situation such as the Raiders would be toxic. Kinda like taking a recovering sex addict to Mons Venus.
Exactly. As I said, I do think he’s a good coach from what I observed at camp, but we’ll need to see beyond one season.

I'm gonna agree with Alfie on this one....
Our d-line this year was almost brand new. Alualu, Kampman, and Lane were brand new to the team. We didn’t know how good they were going to be for us.
Now the day we have a D-Line coach who actually makes Derrik Harvey worthwhile, we need to keep!
Jennings at the 30, at the 20, at the 10. TOUCHDOWN RASHAD JENNINGS!!
I think we need to do to Harvey what we did with Groves
He’s a physical specimen. He’s got to have some trade value, maybe a 3rd or 4th.
I had so much hope for Harvey...
I’m a gators fan also and loved Harvey in college. Granted he did well for Florida. I was saddened to see him become a bust for us….o well. But yes we need to get something for him, right now he just sits on a very wealthy section of bench right now for us….Jags can’t do that.

Harvey...
I too felt the same way. I can’t remember being more excited on draft day than I was when the Jags went nuts and jumped way up and grabbed Harvey to put us over the top. We know now trusting Shack and his way of drafting was a mistake. I truly believe we are in better times with GM Gene.

I'd be happy
with a 5th rounder. He’s more expensive than Groves and he only has a year left on his contract. Also he’s not the physical specimen that Groves was, something Al really covets.
+1
We spent our first four draft picks on d-line – signed Kampman, Morrison – and we’re still crap.
Room for hope but 30th our of 32 is crap.
Is he responsible for the secondary?
If so let him sign for Oakland and stop their strange resurgance. Or better still clone him and give one each to our division rivals.
What could of happened; did.
Finally, ugh 1 week is too long...
Anyway, Mincey was generating his own pressure, without a guy like Kampman spelling him, so AK’S double teams, were being eaten by Mincey, imagine him next year, single teaming, no cast, he’ll be a monster, we really don’t need a DE yet….but i wouldn’t mind one.
It seems it is just another rumour
From Tania Ganguli
The report quoted NFL Network’s LaCanfora’s Twitter as saying Cullen will interview for the job, but LaCanfora never Tweeted that.

well, when you're standing next to Vito and Frenette all day...
she is cute and pretty good at her job.
reading the article on jaguars.com
The Jaguars defensive linemen combined for 20.5 of the club’s 26 sacks this past season, the fifth-most among AFC teams. The Jaguars improved their sack total by 12 from the 2009 season, and the plus-12 sack improvement tied for the fifth-best in the NFL.
puts it into perspective
