Grimes Time
So to any of you who are watching the Pro Bowl, did you notice the play that Brent Grimes just made? After the jump, I'll explain why he will hopefully be an important part of our roster next year.
Brent Grimes is, by far, one of the most athletic corners i have ever seen play and he has a highlight reel of interceptions and passes defended. If any of you remember the Falcons Saints game from last year at the Superdome, he was the cornerback who literally jumped 4 feet in the air to intercept Drew Brees. All that's left to say is this guy is a playmaker. He's also a free agent this year. Living in Atlanta, I get a chance to see him play every Sunday and he continues to amaze me. Another thing I love about him is that he is still very young and will continue to improve with time. I don't know what everyone's impression is of him, but he would significantly improve our defense and i feel like he is a guy who we should have at the top of our FA list. I know there wouldn't be FA if the lockout actually takes place, but if we do have a FA period then he should be our number 1 priority. Let me know what you think and whether you would like him as a Jaguar next year.

i love watching him, and think he had a very good season, ton of passes defended as well..
but im not sure the falcons will let go their best corner while he is in his prime lol…it will make their defense worse, that already needs some help in off season..they should definitely sign him, but im all for signing him if they dont ahah, id love him
yeah but
they just spent a ton of money on dunta robinson and the falcons are being mentioned with Champ Bailey since he’s from Georgia and they also have Brian Williams so i don’t feel like they would be willing to spend the money that we could offer him to be our guy opposite of Cox. I feel like he could completely change our defense and therefore we should really go after him, but thats just my opinion.
He'd be restricted unless something weird happens with the new CBA
Considering he’s a Pro Bowler, even if he doesn’t resign it’ll cost at least a 3rd rounder to get him, not to mention the money. I wouldn’t hold my breath for this one.

The guy is good
I’ve been a fan of his since his days with the NFL Europa Hamburg Sea Devils. I wish we could have signed him early on. I always liked his feistiness.
But I doubt we’ll sign him here. Even though he’s playing well in a similar defense, I don’t think he’s the long term type of fix Gene is looking for. In other words, I think Gene is looking for a more prototypical CB. Even though he’s listed at a little over 5’9", he seems even shorter. Though I grant you he jumps really freakin high.
Somehow I think we will draft Brandon Harris.(Good size, great instincts, good tackler, smart, good speed, don’t know what’s missing other than I don’t know if he can catch.)
I have been saying this for a while, he's easily the falcons best corner
Idk if the falcons feel that way though. I’d like for the Jags to take a shot at him but if he’s a restricted FA then idk if they should do that, it may cost too many or too high a draft pick. Oh and Mercedes Lewis is the Jags #1 priority this offseason.

Don't the Falcons
do everything to keep this guy? That secondary is suspect without him.
Coach Crennel, if all of your Coors Lights can talk what happens when you open your fridge? There's generally "Hoopla" involved.
Agreed
It’s pretty suspect with him, without him it would look a lot like ours.

I forgot about the pick for a restricted free agent
but the falcons will try and retain him but i think they have the strongest pitch for Champ Bailey considering the city’s proximity to home. I think a team will have a definite chance to try and snatch him up but their secondary is still strong without him. Moore and Decoud are beasts and Robinson is still very good. With Bailey, they’ll be very good. I live in Atlanta so I watch them play every Sunday and I’m very excited for next season when the Jags come to town. I’m buying an Alualu jersey and heading down to the Dome!
Mike Smith
Will not let this guy get away….bottom line…Mike Smith is a coach…Hes the reason our defense was good before….he motivates…
