Eugene Monroe Injury: Jaguars OT Could Miss Sunday

Stay connected for news and updates

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Eugene Monroe got back on the field last week after missing time with a shoulder injury against the New Orleans Saints. The Jaguars first offensive drive went right down the football field and scored a touchdown on their opening drive. Unfortunately, Monroe wound up leaving the game somewhere either right before or right after halftime, I can't recall when exactly I remember him on the sideline. When Monroe was out however, it was obvious the Jaguars offense especially running the football, took a big hit.

With Monroe going down, it once again shuffled the offensive line. Guy Whimper moved from right tackle to left, Eben Britton moved from left guard to right tackle, and rookie Will Rackley came off the bench to left guard. On Jack Del Rio's "Jack Del Rio Show" on WOKV last night, Del Rio didn't sound very optimistic about Monroe returning this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. We'll know more at practice today and when the initial injury report is released, but Del Rio did say he was prepared to start Whimper at left tackle and Britton at right tackle. I'm beginning to think this Monroe injury could be something that lingers until the bye week.
