Ok. Go with me here. Lebron James is talking, whether seriously or not, about wanting to make an attempt at playing in the NFL. We all know his freakish ability on the court and he claims that he would want to be a touchdown maker. At 6'8" and 240 lbs, with other worldly jumping ability, what would be the chance that he could be a specialty end zone wide receiver? Obviously, this is a fun question and only somewhat serious, but...why not?
What would be the down side of bringing him in for the cost of what I would assume be undrafted free agent money in order to see if he could do something in practice? And if he does, and with our woeful red zone offense, wouldn't it be interesting to bring him in during a few red zone plays to at least draw what I would assume be double coverage and maybe try lofting a jump ball up there for him once or twice?
And I've never been a "sign someone because they'll sell tickets" guy, but with plenty of tickets out there and with two home Monday night games ahead, it is pretty hard to deny the national draw and intrigue that James would create.
Then again, it may be hard to drop Cecil shorts to the practice squad.....
