Who will replace jack del rio

I think we all can agree that jack dell rio will be fired after this season.

I was wondering who yall thought would be a good replacement for the 2012 season.

My number 1 would be rob ryan but I dont see wayne weaver hiring a personality like ryans.

others i would like are:

mike mularkey, bill obrein, dom capers, mike zimmer and bill cower .

Im not a fan of hiring college coaches .

this is to reach the word limit.

i like rob ryan and mike mularkey also

im just not sure about the transition to a 3-4 defense if we hired rob ryan but mularkey and bill o’brien intrigue me as well

He brought in:

He brought in Posluszny, Coleman, Landry, Lowery, Chick, Roth, Middleton has been respectable as a starter. He found Rackley, Whimper, and Baldridge.

by Roland Sogor on Oct 16, 2011 11:15 PM EDT up reply actions

exactly

thats why he shouldnt be back

by JaGator1 on Oct 16, 2011 11:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I have said it once and I will say thia again

the free agents he brought in likely would have been brought in by any GM with the brain and intellect of a 5 year old. I look more to the draft and franjly he overdrafted many times over the past few years. He is not that spectacular of a GM. Plain and simple.

Rackley, Whimper, and Baldridge aren't exactly great players

This

The kid’s got so much promise it would be a dumb move to not hire him IMO

Brad Pitt

I heard that his new movie is pretty good and he is a coach in it right? Lets give him a call

My guess is Mike Zimmer or Perry Fewell for head coach and someone like the Green Bay QB coach for offensive coordinator, Clements or something like that.

by unbiased5 on Oct 16, 2011 11:16 PM EDT reply actions

I dont know a lot about coaches

but some names i would like:

Ofensive coaches: mike mularkey, Pete Carmichael JR, Bruce Arians , Greg Olson

Defensive coaches: dom capers, mike zimmer, couldn’t think of anyone more

by EdGui on Oct 16, 2011 11:22 PM EDT reply actions

A few I like

Winston Moss, Pete Carmichael Jr., Gregg Williams, Greg Olson, Rob Chudzinski

by Obst on Oct 16, 2011 11:43 PM EDT reply actions

Dirk Koetter

There’s a very good chance that he could be made the interim head coach and do well enough to keep it into next year (i.e. Jason Garrett last year). It would be best for Blaine to stay with his offensive coordinator and build long-term continuity….obviously I don’t know if Koetter would still call the offensive plays while being head coach but I do know that some head coaches do it

by grues0809 on Oct 17, 2011 12:14 AM EDT reply actions

oh and I also think Dirk definitely should be viewed as a highly potential candidate considering

that A LOT of top NFL people seem to think he is an amazing coach…. and those people are 100 times smarter than any of us haha

by grues0809 on Oct 17, 2011 12:16 AM EDT up reply actions

Koetter has 0% chance of being head coach

Especially when Prisco said that Koetter was not going to be named the interim head coach if (when?) JDR gets fired before the bye week

by Bryqan on Oct 17, 2011 12:17 AM EDT up reply actions

Your argument makes little sense

Look, going into this season, we have a new QB coach, new receivers coach. Defensive coaches were constant, just new personnel. Koetter HAS to run the offense 1) because it’s his offense and 2) the other constants on the offensive side Heck and Byner are not ready for that role and don’t have HC experience, neither did Simple Jack.

That is not an indictment on Koetter by any stretch. Hell, getting what he got out of the previous QB was impressive in itself!

As HC you must be a delegator. If this is truly Mel Tucker’s defense, then he did one hell of a job with halftime adjustments yesterday. If the Steelers truly let off the gas, then it figures they could have pressed on the gas when they wanted to, right? He’s good where he is too. Can’t have Cullen as HC because he still has to earn his way back.

It kind of leaves Mark Duffner as the logical choice to go interim, if Weaver chooses to can JDR at the bye or sooner. News seems to trickle out of the stadium around noon on Mondays.

Then why did no one take him yet?

by Obst on Oct 17, 2011 12:53 AM EDT reply actions

Because of the NFL rules regarding coaching hirings...

St Louis desperately wanted him to be their new OC but because that’s only a lateral move, as he is currently our OC, the Jags were able to block him from taking it. Reports also came out that he was supposedly the runner-up to John Fox back when Denver hired him as their new HC.

by grues0809 on Oct 17, 2011 12:59 AM EDT reply actions

Not sure why anyone is a fan of a guy who coaches the 32nd ranked offense in the league. Also he did a very poor job as the head coach of Arizona State.

by Obst on Oct 17, 2011 1:54 AM EDT up reply actions

The ranking's not his fault

He’s got a rookie QB, an injury riddles O-line and a mediocre receiving corps.

by Vicbow on Oct 17, 2011 6:34 AM EDT up reply actions

Well if its not Dirk's fault.....

Then why is it Jack’s? This is either the growing pains of a young team, as you described, the coaching, or LOFT (lack of f’n talent). We can’t Rip Jack, and not Koetter.

by GAJAGFAN on Oct 17, 2011 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions

Why is it Jack's fault?

Because in 9 years, there has been little improvement and he’s the one making the $5 million a year.

In a Fortune 500 company, if the numbers are not where they are you don’t make a splash by firing the Operations Supervisor.

Jim Grobe

Pros:
-Somehow wins game at Wake Forest which boasts minimal talent.
-Knowledge of the spread offense which more prevalent in the NFL every year.
-Not a member of any of the inbred NFL coaching trees.

Cons:
-Wake Forest.
-Knowledge of the spread offense.
-Most likely would not leave Wake Forest.
-Not a member of any of the inbred NFL coaching trees which would immediately be criticized by everyone.

Personally I’d pray for Les Miles becasue that would awesome.

Inbred coaching

Give me 49ers turnaround success (with so few personnel changes) and I’ll take an inbred Harbaugh any day of the week.

by CheapSeat on Oct 17, 2011 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions

OK

Start with a line. Jim’s parents are the line. Split that line in two. On one side is Jim. On the other is John. Is that starting to look like a tree branch to you?

by CheapSeat on Oct 17, 2011 11:09 PM EDT up reply actions

This has nothing to do with family.

There are there three coaching trees in the NFL.
Walsh, Parcells, and Schottenheimer.
ALL NFL HEAD COACHES come from one of these trees.

And of these Jim Harbaugh has spent the least amount of time in the NFL with only two years that I can think of.

What's funny is if you think about it

Jim Harbaugh got his first HC job coaching a team in the same conference as Jacksonville University, the Pioneer League.

Think about this for a second. Kerwin Bell goes from JU to coach NC State then is the HC of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018.
